NEW YORK — Company executives confirmed at the 2012 New York Auto Show that the redesigned 2014 Mazda 6 sedan will be based on the Takeri concept. The production version of the new Mazda 6 will be unveiled this fall at the 2012 Paris Auto Show, and the car will go on sale in spring 2013.
Mazda said the new sedan's design "will be strongly influenced by" the Takeri, which was introduced last fall at the 2011 Tokyo Auto Show.
The 2014 Mazda 6 will be the second of the Japanese automaker's cars, after the new CX-5, to feature its new Skyactiv technology, including a Skyactiv-G 2.0-liter four-cylinder direct-injection gasoline engine and a choice of Skyactiv six-speed manual and automatic transmissions.
