OXFORD, England — BMW's Mini subsidiary will be one of several automotive brands that will display two-wheeled concepts at the upcoming 2010 Paris Auto Show. The Mini Scooter E concept is a retro-styled, battery-powered two-wheeler that will be shown in three versions.

Official sketches were released on the brand's Facebook page. The brief announcement read: "Ever seen a Mini on two wheels? Be the first to see an electric vision of the future as urban mobility by MINI takes a new direction. Keep your eyes open for the world premiere at the Paris Motor Show 2010."

Several European Web sites said the Scooter E is a plug-in two-wheeler that will use lithium-ion batteries, with an effective range of 100 kilometers, or just over 60 miles.

Edmunds.com says: Who knows? This could be the start of a strange new wave of "urban mobility" products from global carmakers. — Paul Lienert, Correspondent
