Just the Facts:
  • Toyota will show its new Verso-S microvan at the Paris auto show.
  • The 157-inch-long van is based on the Toyota Yaris.
  • It goes on sale in Europe in early 2011.

TOKYO — Toyota will re-enter the European B-MPV segment with the new Verso-S, a version of the redesigned Ractis. The Yaris-based microvan will make its world debut later this month at the 2010 Paris Auto Show and will go on sale in Europe in early 2011.

Toyota said the Verso-S, which measures less than 157 inches long, will be the shortest vehicle in a growing segment that includes the Opel Meriva, the Citroen C3 Picasso and the Renault Modus.

The automaker said the Verso-S will be "an object lesson in space management" featuring "a practical, flexible interior design [with] maximized usable space."

Edmunds.com says: The Verso-S will occupy a slot in Toyota's European lineup that was vacated several years ago when the Yaris Verso was phased out. — Paul Lienert, Correspondent
