PARIS — The 2011 Bentley Continental GT W12 will start at $192,495, including a $2,595 destination charge, when it goes on sale in the first quarter of 2011, the automaker said on Wednesday at the 2010 Paris Auto Show. But the pricing for the new V8 version of the Continental GT will not be released until later, Bentley said.
Be aware that the base 2011 Continental GT W12 pricing will also include a gas-guzzler tax that likely will add several thousand dollars to the bottom line. But when contacted by Inside Line on Wednesday, Bentley spokesperson Valentine O'Connor said that the gas-guzzler tax has not yet been determined. The new V8 edition will arrive stateside in the fourth quarter of 2011.
While the Continental GT had a showy Internet debut earlier this month, the Paris auto show marks the first time the public will get an up-close look at the car. Bentley said on Wednesday that its dealers will begin taking orders for the redesigned Continental GT in October. It also said that additional market-specific pricing on the car will be released in October.
For 2011, the Continental GT gets what the automaker calls a more "sharp and muscular" look and a more powerful W12 engine. It also gets an optional flex-fuel 4.0-liter V8 that underscores what Bentley says is a new "environmental commitment" — as well as a slightly more affordable option for buyers.
Edmunds.com says: The 2011 Continental GT W12 will edge close to the $200K mark, once you add the gas-guzzler tax and individual state taxes — not to mention any extras. — Anita Lienert, Correspondent
