Just the Facts:
  • Photos of the Subaru Performance Concept leaked before the car's official debut.
  • A French automotive blog is the purported source of the photos.
  • Subaru announced last week that it would introduce an all-new performance concept car at the New York auto show.

NEW YORK — Photos of the Subaru Performance Concept have leaked out ahead of the car's official debut at the 2013 New York Auto Show. The photos were first noticed on the French automotive site Blog Automobile.

Subaru gave no additional information when it announced the upcoming concept reveal and no other details were contained in the post with the leaked photos.

After the successful launch of the BRZ last year, Subaru fans expected the company's attention to turn back to the WRX. This concept could point the way to what we'll see sometime next year.

Additional details are expected at Subaru Performance Concept's official reveal this Thursday at the 2013 New York Auto Show.

Edmunds says: A promising sign for those who thought that Subaru had forgotten about the car that put it on the performance map.

That hood looks rather high for a car powered by a boxer engine.

Finally, this car is evolving into something one can look at without cringing. If they manage to tone things down and to add a touch of class, this thing could enter and maybe dominate the traditional 3 series enthusiast market (many of whom have been disillusioned with BMW's apparent loss of direction).
