NEW YORK — The 2014 Kia Forte Koup, with a new 201-horsepower four-cylinder engine for the Koup SX model, bowed on Wednesday at the 2013 New York Auto Show.

The 2014 Kia Forte Koup SX is the most powerful Forte Koup ever.

Pricing will be announced closer to the Forte Koup's launch in the fourth quarter. The 2013 Forte Koup starts at $18,175, including a $775 destination charge.

The Forte Koup is lower, longer and wider than the outgoing model. Kia has ditched the 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine featured in the 2013 Forte Koup SX.

The 2014 Forte Koup will be offered in two trim levels, EX and SX. The EX is equipped with a 173-hp 2.0-liter GDI four-cylinder engine mated to a six-speed automatic transmission. The SX gets the turbocharged 1.6-liter four-cylinder engine mated to either a standard six-speed manual transmission or optional six-speed automatic transmission with steering-wheel-mounted paddle shifters.

The 2014 Forte Koup EX gets standard 16-inch alloy wheels, Uvo eServices with rear camera display, Bluetooth, Sirius/XM Satellite Radio, leather-wrapped steering wheel with integrated audio and cruise control buttons, a tilt-and-telescoping steering column, power windows and LED positioning headlights with foglights.

The 2014 Koup SX gets standard 18-inch alloy wheels, dual chrome exhaust tips and LED taillights. Other details include an aggressive front fascia with larger bumper and grille openings, black gloss grille inserts, larger front brakes, alloy sport pedals and seats with carbon-fiber-style accents.

Options on both models include HID headlights, a navigation system with HD radio, sunroof, heated steering wheel, 10-way adjustable power driver seat, heated front seats and cooled driver seat, leather seating surfaces, SmartKey with push-button start and dual-zone climate control.

The Kia Forte Koup competes with the 2013 Honda Civic, Hyundai Elantra, Mazda 3 and Toyota Corolla.
