NEW YORK — The 2014 Jaguar XJR, a high-performance version of the Jaguar XJ, starts at $116,895 for the standard-wheelbase model, reflecting a $44,800 premium over the base 2013 Jaguar XJ.

The top-of-the-line 2014 Jaguar XJR long-wheelbase model starts at $119,895. All prices include an $895 destination charge. Jaguar Land Rover told Edmunds that the XJR will not be subject to a gas-guzzler tax. It goes on sale in the third quarter of 2013.

The 2014 Jaguar XJR slots in between the 2013 Audi A8 L and the 2013 BMW 760 Li sedan in terms of pricing. The 2013 Audi A8 L 4.0 TFSI starts at $88,095, including an $895 destination charge. The 2013 BMW 760 Li sedan starts at $143,295, including a $1,700 gas-guzzler tax and an $895 destination charge.
The Jaguar XJR is equipped with a supercharged 5.0-liter V8 engine linked to an eight-speed ZF automatic transmission. The engine churns out 550 horsepower and sprints from zero to 60 mph in 4.4 seconds. The car has a top speed of 174 mph.
Aerodynamic improvements include a new front air splitter, aerodynamic rocker sills, an additional rear spoiler and hood vents. Other details include 20-inch forged alloy wheels, a standard 18-speaker surround-sound system from Meridian and exclusive sport seats.
Jaguar said the XJR's steering, suspension and braking enhancements have been tested at the company's Nurburgring Test Center.
