NEW YORK — Mazda's Takeri Concept, which previews the next-generation Mazda 6, makes its North American debut at the 2012 New York Auto Show.
Takeri was unveiled last fall at the Tokyo auto show. For New York, it has been fitted with the company's Skyactiv-D engine — the first Mazda concept to feature the 2.2-liter turbodiesel — and Skyactiv-Drive six-speed automatic transmission with paddle shifters.
In addition to the clean diesel engine, the Takeri is fitted with a stop-start system and a regenerative brake system, both of which are being featured on Mazda's production cars.
The four-door concept also gets 20-inch satin-chrome alloy wheels, ceramic-white leather seats and alloy pedals.
Edmunds.com says: It will be interesting to see how the concept's sheet metal gets translated into production.
