Just the Facts:
    • The Fiat 500e is a pure electric version of the standard 500 coupe.
    • It will make a brief first appearance on the "green" carpet at the American Music Awards on November 18.
    • The official public debut of the 500e will come at the L.A. auto show on November 28.

LOS ANGELES — Chrysler released two photos of the Fiat 500e coupe prior to its public debut at the 2012 Los Angeles Auto Show.

The exterior view of the upcoming battery-powered coupe shows only minor changes to the bodywork, including a revised front fascia and some deeper side sills. A new wheel design also appears to be part of the package.

On the inside, the 500e will use a push-button transmission setup in place of a traditional shift lever. The revised instrument panel features a battery charge gauge around the circular speedometer.

Chrysler said that the 500e will make a brief appearance on the "green" carpet at the American Music Awards on November 18, followed by an official public debut at the 2012 L.A. Auto Show.

Edmunds says: Although Chrysler has been slow to the electric game, the 500e looks like a full-fledged production car that's ready to hit the market.
