WOODCLIFF LAKE, New Jersey — The BMW Concept K2 Powder Ride, which targets winter sports enthusiasts, will debut at the 2012 Los Angeles Auto Show. The concept gets Valencia Orange metallic exterior paint and a large graphic with an image of a fox.

The concept also gets a unique roof structure for hauling luggage and skis. The ski carrier holds the skis at an angle so the surface design is visible to the outside world. The skis also get the fox graphic. A sound system from Harman Kardon is installed in the two luggage boxes. The boxes can be illuminated in blue and orange. Three LED spotlights are integrated into the roof structure.

The Concept K2 Powder Ride also gets 19-inch light-alloy wheels in Ferric Grey and dark-tinted side windows.

The cabin is outfitted in black napa leather with orange contrast stitching on the seats and trim.

The concept is a collaboration between BMW and K2, a winter sport equipment supplier. BMW said on Monday that it will roll out the 2013 BMW X1 Powder Ride Edition in November. Pricing has not been announced.

The special-edition model can be ordered in Black or Alpine White exterior paint. It comes with a pair of K2 LTD Powder Ride skis. The special X1 also gets a roof box, a ski and snowboard bag, and all-weather floor mats.

Edmunds says: BMW has some winter fun with the 2013 X1.
