GENEVA — The electric Volkswagen e-Co-Motion, a commercial-delivery concept vehicle, will debut at the 2013 Geneva Auto Show.
The Volkswagen e-Co-Motion is similar in size to the 2013 Ford Transit Connect. The e-Co-Motion is 179 inches long versus 180.6 inches for the Transit Connect. The Transit Connect is about 2 inches taller than the VW concept.
VW says electric mobility — especially in light commercial vehicles — could "play a crucial role in meeting the growing transport needs of the world's megacities."
The e-Co-Motion has a payload of 1,763 pounds. It can be configured as a delivery vehicle or one for shuttling passengers.
No other specifications were released and VW has not disclosed production plans.
Edmunds says: Commercial vehicles don't often steal the spotlight at auto shows, but the Volkswagen e-Co-Motion could mean trouble for the Ford Transit Connect.
