GENEVA — The Range Rover Evoque Convertible Concept will make its formal debut at the 2012 Geneva Auto Show, although parent Land Rover says there are no production plans.

The company calls the convertible concept "a design and engineering study." If it made it to production, it presumably would target such vehicles as the 2012 Nissan Murano CrossCabriolet.

"The Evoque lends itself beautifully to the idea of a convertible," said Gerry McGovern, Land Rover design director, in a statement.

Although technical specifications were not released, Land Rover says the convertible was developed with "minimal changes to weight and torsional rigidity."

"The concept is being shown to gauge reaction and to assess the potential for what could be another white space product," said Land Rover in a statement.

The soft-top convertible features metallic Causeway Grey exterior paint and 21-inch Titan silver wheels. The four-passenger concept gets a fully retractable roof, along with a drop-down tailgate.

The cabin has leather seats and Ivory contrast stitching.

The Range Rover Evoque won the 2012 North American Truck of the Year prize in January.

Edmunds.com says: Does the Range Rover Evoque make the transition to drop-top mode? Land Rover is anxious to hear your reaction.
