GENEVA — The Hyundai i30 wagon will make its world debut at the 2012 Geneva Auto Show, but there are no plans to bring the car to the U.S., Hyundai Motor America told Edmunds.com on Thursday.

The 2009 Hyundai Elantra Touring model — the current-generation Hyundai i30 wagon in Europe — will remain on sale in the U.S. until the 2013 Hyundai Elantra GT arrives here this summer.

"We are not getting the (i30) wagon variant in the U.S.," said Miles Johnson, a Hyundai Motor America spokesman, in a phone conversation with Inside Line. "This time we decided to go with the hatchback version rather than the wagon."

Pricing has not been released on the 2013 Hyundai Elantra GT.

The i30 wagon will be sold in Europe with a choice of three gas engines and three diesel engines. It was designed and engineered specifically for European customers at the Korean automaker's European research and design center in Russelsheim, Germany. It features a longer body with an increase in trunk space.

Edmunds.com says: You'll have to admire the Hyundai i30 wagon from afar, since there are no plans at this point to bring it to the U.S.
