TOKYO — Subaru said Friday that it will unveil its companion to the Toyota FT-86 sport coupe — the so-called "Toyobaru" — at the upcoming 2011 Geneva Auto Show. The official name: Subaru Rear-Wheel Drive Sports Car Technology Concept.
In a brief statement, the automaker said: "A Subaru rear-wheel-drive sports car is currently under joint development as part of the business alliance with Toyota. Based on an all-new platform, the vehicle will offer Subaru's distinctive trademark and core technology: the horizontally opposed Subaru boxer engine."
At the Geneva show, Subaru also plans the European debuts of the Impreza Concept, which was unveiled in November at the 2010 Los Angeles Auto Show, and the Trezia, a compact wagon that is just being introduced in Japan.
