PARIS — The Peugeot 508 RXH, a diesel-electric hybrid slated to go on sale next spring, will make its world debut in September at the 2011 Frankfurt Auto Show. The French automaker released photos of the 508 RXH, which is one of the first out of the gate with this type of technology, on Monday.

The all-wheel-drive model features a 2.0-liter HDi diesel engine and an electric motor for a total output of 200 horsepower. It can go an unspecified distance in electric mode. Peugeot said the 508 RXH is spun off the 508 SW.

Exterior cues include three vertical LED strips on each side of the grille that are supposed to resemble lion claws. Standard features include 18-inch wheels, a panoramic glass roof and a head-up display. Pricing has not yet been announced.

The Peugeot 508 RXH targets the Audi A4 Allroad Quattro — at least stylistically.

Edmunds.com says: You'll have to admire this one from afar, since it's not bound for the U.S. market.
