Just the Facts:
  • Fisker has released a teaser shot of the Surf ahead of its Frankfurt auto show debut.
  • The Fisker Surf appears to be a shooting brake derived from the Karma premium hybrid sedan.
  • If headed for production, the Surf could poach on the turf staked out recently by the Ferrari FF.

ANAHEIM, California — If you were a hip, California-based company aiming a new shooting brake at the premium turf staked out recently by the Ferrari FF, what would you call it?

The Fisker Surf appears to be just that animal — a wagon-like derivative of the Karma premium hybrid sedan, to be fully revealed next week at the 2011 Frankfurt Auto Show.

Fisker released a teaser shot of the Surf on its Facebook page and Flickr site ahead of the car's Frankfurt auto show debut and confirmed that it will be an extended-range electric vehicle — in other words, a gasoline-electric hybrid — and a "stablemate" of the Karma, but no other details.

A brief statement issued by the company said, "The Fisker Surf delivers a bold new twist and is sure to 'wow' global audiences with its combination of uncompromised responsible luxury and head-turning design."
