PARIS — French automaker Citroen has created what it calls a "high-tech executive shuttle" that really looks like a latter-day VW Microbus.

The quirkily styled Citroen Tubik will make its public debut next week at the 2011 Frankfurt Auto Show.

Citroen says the Tubik concept was inspired by the company's long-running Type H delivery van, better known in France as "the Tub." The boxy Tubik features what Citroen describes as "a lounge-style cocoon" with modular seating for nine.

Among the vehicle's high-tech systems are a giant semi-circular screen and high-definition surround sound, a fingerprint recognition system, head-up display screen, plus reversing and rearview cameras.

Borrowing from production components and technology, the Tubik employs Citroen's HYbrid4 diesel-electric powertrain, as well as the brand's adaptive Hydractive suspension.

Edmunds.com says: We say Bulli for Citroen.
