PARIS — At the upcoming 2011 Frankfurt Auto Show, Citroen plans to display for the first time its entire DS range, including the new DS5 that was unveiled earlier this year at the 2011 Shanghai Auto Show.
A five-door hatchback, the DS5 goes on sale early next year across Europe and will feature Peugeot Citroen's HYbrid4 diesel-electric hybrid technology.
The 200-horsepower HYbrid4 system employs a 2.0-liter four-cylinder turbodiesel to drive the front wheels through a six-speed automated gearbox and a 27kW electric motor to power the rear.
The DS5, which is the first production Citroen to use the HYbrid4 system, can run on electric power alone at speeds up to 37 mph. CO2 emissions are a low 99g/km.
As the top model in the DS family, the DS5 also will offer a full complement of advanced technology, including intelligent traction control, lane departure warning, a reverse parking camera and color head-up display.
Designed initially for Europe, the DS5 also will go into production in China in late 2012, at a new plant in Shenzhen jointly operated with Peugeot Citroen's local partner Chang'an.
