What Is It?
2014 Jeep Compass
What's Special About It?
A little more styling sophistication, while the rouge-ish continuously variable automatic transmission (CVT) no longer has to be endured unless you opt for the Trail-Rated off-road package.
What Edmunds Says:
The new grille treatment for the 2014 Jeep Compass better integrates the Jeep styling construct with what has, to now, been a rather ungainly application to a car. Like the styling revisions for the 2014 Grand Cherokee, the Compass' exterior redo focuses on reshaping and slimming the grille and headlights and includes the blackout treatment for the area around the halogen bulbs or, in the case of the 2014 Compass Limited, halogen projectors. It all works to better mesh the Jeep grille for the Compass application.
We'll have to wait to drive it (the 2014 Compass will be in showrooms sometime in the second quarter, we're told) to put an absolute verdict on the new six-speed automatic transmission, but there's no danger in speculating it's way better than the wailing CVT it replaces for all but Compass models with the off-road package. Insist on a trail rating for the 2014 Compass and you're stuck with the CVT.
