IRVINE, California — The Kia Cross GT, which targets the 2013 Nissan Pathfinder and Ford Explorer, will be unveiled at the 2013 Chicago Auto Show.
Kia teased the Cross GT with a single image on Wednesday.
The Korean automaker said the Cross GT "hints at the future of Kia's design language in the form of a premium crossover utility vehicle that is larger than the new 2014 Sorento."
Presumably, a production version of the Cross GT would be more expensive than the 2014 Sorento. The 2014 Sorento starts at $24,950, including an $850 destination charge.
But the high-end 2014 Kia Sorento SX Limited starts at $40,550, including shipping, making it one of the first Kias to break the over-$40,000 mark.
Kia offered no specifications on the Cross GT, which appears to feature the automaker's "Tiger Nose" grille. A new three-row crossover in the Kia lineup, as previewed by the Cross GT, would replace the old body-on-frame Kia Borrego.
Edmunds says: Kia reveals some major ambitions with its new Cross GT, especially if it has the Nissan Pathfinder and Ford Explorer in the crosshairs.
