CHICAGO — Mazda said its 2012 MX-5 Miata Special Edition, which debuts here at the 2012 Chicago Auto Show and goes on sale in late February, will be built in a limited run of only 450 units for the U.S. market. Prices start at $32,020 for the six-speed manual transmission model and at $32,470 with the six-speed automatic. Stickers include a $795 shipping charge.
The 2012 Miata Special Edition is available in Velocity Red or Crystal White Pearl. Either color comes with a black power-retractable hardtop, as well as 17-inch Black Gunmetal alloy wheels, black outside mirrors, body-colored door handles and black trim surrounding the front grille and foglamp assembly.
Based on the Grand Touring model, this special-edition Miata gets a sport-tuned suspension with Bilstein shocks and limited-slip differential. A Premium package, with Bluetooth hands-free capability and Sirius Satellite Radio, is standard.
The cabin features black leather upholstery with contrasting gray stitching on the heated seats, door trim, steering wheel and parking brake. Piano black trim and alloy pedals are standard.
