BEIJING — Nissan said its new Sylphy "global sedan," unveiled at the 2012 Beijing Auto Show, previews the redesigned 2013 Sentra that goes on sale this fall in the U.S.
Nissan released full images of the Sylphy, which goes into production later this year at the Dongfeng Nissan joint-venture plant in Guangzhou, and will be sold in Australia as the Pulsar, beginning in 2013.
For the U.S. market, the automaker elected to reveal only a teaser shot of the new Sentra, along with a video.
The 2013 Sentra teaser follows the recent unveiling of the redesigned 2013 Altima, which goes on sale this summer in the U.S.
The new Sylphy for China will feature a 1.8-liter four-cylinder engine and a continuously variable automatic transmission. Nissan has not specified powertrain details for the U.S. Sentra.
Edmunds.com says: Nissan says its new Sylphy/Sentra/Pulsar will be a truly global product, with sales planned in 120 countries by 2014.
