Review of the 2001 Audi TT

  • For buyers seeking the ultimate performance sport coupe (or roadster), the 2001 Audi TT will likely disappoint. But those willing to give up, say, 12 percent of sheer ability will get back at least 25 percent in pure style.

  • Safety
  • Pros

Distinctive styling, cutting-edge interior, optional all-wheel drive.

  • Cons

Useless back seat in coupe, interior ergonomics take getting used to, lacks low-end grunt.

  • What's New for 2001

For 2001 Audi introduces the TT Roadster, which retains the same interior and chassis as the coupe. Makes sense, as the coupe was designed with the roadster version in mind. There's also a 225-horsepower quattro version for both the coupe and convertible.

Little bump expensive repairs

It's a great car to drive, just make sure you don't bump any wheel stops in Mall parking lots. My little bump is going to cost $1,500 to fix. I had a Z3 and didn't have this problem.

Vehicle: 2001 Audi TT 180hp Fwd 2dr Coupe (1.8L 4cyl Turbo 5M)

A few more small electrical problems than expected, ie, replace driver window twice and horn relay once. However always dependable driver. Onboard computer overly sensative but once you realize this and thqat mostly it will reset itself, becomes less annoying. Overall, a fun car to drive and the design is as momumental as an Jag XK120. I disagree with some of the editor ratings- excellent storage for this type of car. Slightly regret not having gotten the 225hp.

Best car ever!

Vehicle: 2001 Audi TT 180hp Fwd 2dr Coupe (1.8L 4cyl Turbo 5M)

Excellent performance, great acceleration, braking and handling. The craftsmanship is excellent and there are no creaks or glitches of any kind. The cupholder fits a 12 oz. cup without a problem. I am 5'7", 160 lb. and fit in the car like it was made for me. If you need a back seat, get a sedan. The seat is mainly there to reduce insurance cost, but if you fold it down you can fit quite a bit of luggage. Ingress and egress are as easy as expected for a sports car.
