Audi has really cut back on production of the 06-07 S4's models. They made too many 2004/2005 models with the new V8. Audi is trying to keep the S4 more exclusive and special with the new grill & styling.

Salt Lake City, Utah..First drive of 2010 Audi S4 6 speed manual. As an Audi owner (2005 Allroad 2.7T 6 speed manual) I was very excited to drive the all new S4. A few years back I drove and almost purchased a 2007 S4 Avant Manual. The V8 felt so powerful and sounded great driving around town. I really enjoyed the driving experience and feel of the car. The new S4 ... Read More
I had debated myself for couple of months, now, as to whether to post this or not. I had hoped to see other folks's experience. I was once a proud owner of a 2001 S4 and now that love has turned into utter comtemp!!! Thanks to Carousel Audi. I had bet my wife that S4 would outlast her 2002 BMW X5, looks like I'll be eating crow, and it would seems ... Read More
I'm new to this forum and not a 'technical' person and need some feedback from all you S4 Audi lovers! What follows is a synposis of 'service issues' with my 2004 S4 Cabriolet (manual 6 speed): I purchased the car in Feb. 2006. It is a 2004 and had 13700 km's (or roughly 8,200 miles) on it at time of purchase, it now has 19,300 km's or roughly 11,600 miles (it ... Read More
I don't believe that's true. The only models that have gotten the new torque split so far were the Q7 and RS4- you'll have to wait for the next-gen modular products to see it spread across the range. It will revolutionize Audi, and just like how the RS4 trounced the M3, Audi will become as sporty as BMW- a milestone for August Horch.
Hey all. Wanted some feedback on driving preferences the Audi S4 or A6 4.2 with the sports suspension. Leaning more toward the 2007 A6 because of the new 4.2 FSI engine w/350 HP, nice upgrade from the 335 HP. Any thoughts would be helpful. Thanks again.
Hi all - I need some help in deciding on a 2004 CPO S4 loaded with 20K miles for 40K vs 2005 M3 loaded with 10K for 50K. Any hellp is appreciated. I have kids 11 and 12. I usually drop 1 in morning to school and pick one up in evening at soccer. I want a car with great performance but also practical for my situation. I am only 3 ... Read More
Some manufactures such as Audi provide performance versions of their AWD sedans that come equipped from the factory with summer performance tires. These will NOT work in snow and a second set of wheels/tires would be mandatory with such a vehicle. I've driven my S4 on snowy roads a few times this year. Even with performance tires I had no drama at all. Hills were not a problem either. I was ... Read More
They seem to have worked that problem out. The 2006 S4 is a 4th generation model and is probably as reliable as it's going to get. I don't even know if Audi has any new plans for the S4 in 2007. It looks like the RS4 is the next step that Audi is taking with their 4-series.
OK let's have a fact-based discussion. Firstly, which consumer report are you talking about? Go to Consumer Reports.org , and look up the BMW 3-series and Audi A4 reports. Granted, the Audi has atrocious reliability through 2001 (it is that reputation which hurts its resale value now ... ) but has shown consistent improvement since the new shape was introduced in 2002. Indeed, in 2003 it received only excellent and very ... Read More
If this is going to be a fact based discussion then by all means use accurate facts. Consumer Reports and Kelly Blue Book clearly show the M3 to be more reliable and a much better investment than the S4. Also, there is no 2006 M3 to compare to the 2006 S4. If you had your facts straight you would know that the M3 is due for a change and won't be ... Read More
I don't think that makes sense. The A4 Cabs are a totally different production line. Why would they put the new grill on the S4 and leave the 1.8 & 3.0 the same? I work for an Audi dealer & the corporate high ups told us it would be 2 summers until we got the new grills & body style on the convertibles, which means 2007 model year. We'll see as ... Read More
