Re: New 2006 Audi S4 Sedan [rjlaero]

What's sales tax in Cali? It depends on the city. 7.25% is the state sales tax, but some cities like LA and SF have it hiked to 8% or 8.25%. Kind of steep, I know, but anyone who tells you that CA is the most expensive state in the lower 48 is not kidding. The sales tax was 7.75% where I bought my S4. But your OTD price after tax, lo ... Thanks. I'm absolutely thrilled with this car. I checked out the M3 as well, but the S4 has more of what I want in a car. V8, less interior noise, 4 doors, as well as the 60/40 AWD to name a few. It's also a few thousand dollars cheaper. I know someone who has a STI and I rode in it once. If you want a fast car in the 30K ... Read More

OK let's have a fact-based discussion. Firstly, which consumer report are you talking about? Go to Consumer Reports.org , and look up the BMW 3-series and Audi A4 reports. Granted, the Audi has atrocious reliability through 2001 (it is that reputation which hurts its resale value now ... ) but has shown consistent improvement since the new shape was introduced in 2002. Indeed, in 2003 it received only excellent and very ... Read More

If this is going to be a fact based discussion then by all means use accurate facts. Consumer Reports and Kelly Blue Book clearly show the M3 to be more reliable and a much better investment than the S4. Also, there is no 2006 M3 to compare to the 2006 S4. If you had your facts straight you would know that the M3 is due for a change and won't be ... Read More

I love arguing over cars (of all things). Truth is, both cars are great, but for 2005, Audi S4 has taken the M3 down and I can't find a industry publication that says otherwise. Here's yet another article from R&T... http://www.roadandtrack.com/article.asp?section_id=3&article_id=913&page_number=1

The 3 series remains one of the better looking cars in BMW's lineup, and it's still the "darling" car of many automotive jounalists. The M3 is indeed a sharp looking car. But anybody who says the fit, finish, and overall appearance of BMW's...especially the 5 and 7 series is crazy. Virtually every automotive magazine has questioned the once clean and classy Bimmers of the late 80's and most of the 90's, ... Read More

Well sedans are different than Cabriolets. Cabs usually sell for MSRP. They are rare and hard to come by (at least in the summer). I also waited for a 2005.5 so it was even rarer. I got about 1k off mine BUT my family is a 30+ year customer at my dealer and I've been dealing with the same sales person for the past 21 years. I also did my financing ... Read More

New S4
Written by: nyccarguy on Apr 3, 2005 9:26:16 PM
I was at a Wedding this evening and there must have been an Audi Launch for the press at the hotel. They had a few S4, S4 Avants, A3s, and A4s there. I don't care for the looks of the 2005.5 model. They don't have the beautiful AVUS style wheels. The new S4 wheels look like bigger version of the 05 A4 3.0 non sport package wheels. The stylintg went from ... Read More

Just took delivery!

I just bought a 2005.5 S4 Cabriolet (premium, heated seats, tiptronic, sirius, nav., silver w/ ebony). My wife always wanted an A4 cabriolet since she saw her first one back in 2001. I had a 2005 Elise which was totalled by an Econovan with a driver on a cell phone back in November. The docs said no lotus for another year or so while I heal so my wife got her ... Read More

My outgoing car was a leased '00 Audi A6 2.7t. So, after that car, I was a performance driver. I drove three S4s (two were sedans, one convertible) and a new A6 4.2. My son likes cars as much as I do, and he almost fell asleep in the A6! It must've been the gray interior, but that car has lost some excitement. Sounds like the new 5 Series? Well, I ... Read More

The factory release has to do with the official announce date of the 2005.5 S4'S. Apparently they haven't released them yet to the public, haven't put on the website. The RL isn't adrenaline pumping that's for sure. I'm 35, it's probably not my car. I'm between a rock and hardplace with Boston weather. Need the function of AWD, but like performance in summer. I could do the sport ute thing, but ... Read More

Tire Pressure Monitoring System
Written by: aec11 on Jun 9, 2005 8:50:51 AM
I took delivery of a 2005.5 S4 on April 1, and have already had a serious problem with the tire pressure monitoring system. It had already acted up the first week I had the car, and then a few weeks later it went out completely. It's been in the shop for over a week now, and my dealer is replacing the whole system. I understand Audi has had lots of problems ... Read More
