Just took delivery!
Written by: wallabyguy on Jul 2, 2005 10:42:24 AM
I just bought a 2005.5 S4 Cabriolet (premium, heated seats, tiptronic, sirius, nav., silver w/ ebony). My wife always wanted an A4 cabriolet since she saw her first one back in 2001. I had a 2005 Elise which was totalled by an Econovan with a driver on a cell phone back in November. The docs said no lotus for another year or so while I heal so my wife got her ... Read More

Hello, question on CPO.
Written by: audibon on Mar 23, 2005 9:09:57 AM
Audibon here. Been a long time my friends both old and new. Since I was a part of the A4 board a while ago I will post this question here second but I will also post it on the A4 board. I no longer own my 2001.5 A4. Divorce can do that. However, I have some thoughts of getting the car I actually wanted back then. Either a 2001 or 2002 ... Read More

audibon - not a bad price, but beware.

http://www.edmunds.com/used/2001/audi/s4/100000527/options.html?t- id=edmunds.u.tmvmipmake.tmvpricetable.num1.1.audi* Did you check the car on Carfax or the like? I am a little weary of a car that was in an accident that has a rebuilt title. Will the seller guarentee it? Can you get the car checked by a trusted mechanic? I would also have the car thoroughly checked over before making the purchase. The '01 S4 is a great car, and a ton of fun to ... Read More

O-rings?
Written by: speedkiddo on Jun 17, 2002 6:35:40 PM
I've test driven a 2001 Audi S4 with 12,000 miles on it. I asked the agent to get the oil changed and he called to let me know they discovered an oil leak and have placed an overnight order for "o rings" and that the car will be ready tomorrow afternoon after they go through the work to replace. it's covered by the bumper to bumper warranty- 3 years left. has ... 2002 A4 vs. 2001/2002 S4
Written by: mjvchicago on Feb 27, 2002 8:27:13 PM
Audi guys/gals - I'm in the market for a new car and have been comparing the A4, S4 and Subaru WRX. I'm aware of the explicit differences with the three: S4 has much higher performance than the A4; the WRX is a little "tinnier" and has less amenities than the Audis; the cost factors; etc. The one thing I'm not sure about is the differences under the skins of the A4 ... More ruminations from an S4 owner...
Written by: ilxman on Dec 24, 2001 10:19:29 AM
I own a 2001 Nogaro/Alcantara 6-spd with almost 11,000 miles logged. I have said repeatedly that the E46 M3 is the car I now lust after, since it is so much improved over the E36 M3. However, even though I am single guy with no family commitments, I am starting to salivate less over the new M3 as the many virtues of the S4 have become even clearer with time. I ... Read More

S-line
Written by: markcincinnati on Dec 20, 2001 7:29:38 AM
No, Audi will have an "S" line -- which will be a lesser version of the all out "S" series -- Here is the release that really got my attention: "Audi's ”S line” includes a series of customised sporty attributes supplied by the Audi subsidiary quattro GmbH: - Sports suspension with the body lowered by 20 mm - 18-inch ”9-spoke” cast alloy wheels with 225/40 ZR 18 tyres - Standard leather ... Ode to the S4...
Written by: ilxman on Nov 6, 2001 8:00:23 AM
I'm a 2001 Nogaro/Alcantara 6spd S4 owner, with about 8500 miles. I woke up early last Saturday (i.e., least amount of traffic) and decided it was time to take her out and seriously let 'er rip. I got on the expressway and gently warmed her up as I got past city and suburban traffic. Then I turned off the stereo and really started workin' her out. My love for this car ... Read More

It seemed some better today
Written by: varig on Nov 1, 2001 4:03:13 PM
Jim, Thanks for the tip. I tried it this morning and it seemed to go better. I will try it for the next few days and see if the improvement is real or just my imagination. I have also started keeping the transmission in R when the car is parked (emergency brake engaged as well). Either I am getting used to the shifter or it is beginning to break in a ... Read More

resale values of audis
Written by: ory on Aug 17, 2001 9:09:13 AM
I just leased a 2001 s4 for 48 months. The price at the end of the lease was the same %as a mbw, and a bit lower than a mercedes. (%48) I think Audis still suffer from the 80's 5000 model image problem. For the money, this was a great car to lease in my opinion, after comparing it to BMW. The money factor was 0.0025, which is low.

Winter wheels & tires
Written by: spridledog on Jun 20, 2001 1:04:25 PM
I am in the process of picking out winter wheels and tires for my new 2001 S4, which, by the way, is by far the most amazing vehicle I've owned. My Audi salesman suggested I get ALL-SEASON tires rather than snow tires, and go down to 16" in size. A Tire Rack salesman suggested that if I do go with all-season tires, I should stay with the 17" size. I live ... Read More

Tire comment
Written by: markcincinnati on Jun 5, 2001 12:05:13 PM
My geography Cincinnati -- we have winter, but the worst I have ever seen it is perhaps 4 days snow on the roads which after the second day is pretty much gone on the primary and most secondary roads, sometimes the residential areas do not get cleared for 3 or 4 days (and that is the worst). Having had many quattros, I agree with those that have or will have S4's ... Read More

Audi Value
Written by: habitat1 on May 25, 2001 6:59:16 AM
I will be purchasing a new car in late 2001 or early 2002. Primarily considering BMW 3 or 5 series. I must confess that I hadn't even seriously considered Audi based upon my impressions from years past of their reliability problems and severe depreciation. However, a few colleagues suggested I at least look at Audi. A quick check of the used car section of the Washington Post this morning found a ... Read More

2001 S4 owner update...
Written by: ilxman on May 22, 2001 12:11:27 PM
I own a 2001 Nogaro Blue/Blue Alcantara 6-spd with every option except the nav system and phone. I have about 2,800 miles in the 3.5 months I've owned it (I live in downtown Chicago, so lotsa city driving). Bottom line? I LOVE this car. I have hauled 5 people in this car; I've shoehorned a bulky, 6-foot tall box into this car with the seats folded down; I've spanked a Mustang ... Read More

2002 S4
Written by: markcincinnati on May 13, 2001 7:26:08 AM
I spoke with my dealer on Thursday -- he says there will be a 2002 S4 in the US -- and that it will be virtually identical in every way to the 2001 S4. Audi is doing the same thing they did with the previous S6 -- they are continuing the body, engine, etc. for a short while because demand for the S4 (as it was in 1995 for the then ... Read More

Update on 2001 S4 tires...
Written by: ilxman on Sep 29, 2000 3:06:39 PM
My 2001 Nogaro Blue/Blue Alcantara is on order, due in December. It turns out that after getting complaints about the stock low-profile tires, Audi is giving a choice of Michelin or Pirelli all-weather high-performance tires. It turns out that all those pot-holed American streets have been causing premature bulging of the stock tires. I'll post more info when I find out the exact tire models. BTW, any more navigation system owners ... Read More

Anything you can do to your Turbocharged Audi, I can do to my Naturally Aspirated Benz, including the addition of a turbo. Nothing beats dispacement. Referring to money is real weak. Do not worry about what your wife says about how much you spent on your car. You can not put a price tag on fine art. Go ahead, try and argue with me. What is a mercedes benz model list. ... 2002 S4 changes
Written by: bollinger on Jul 6, 2000 7:13:01 AM
Only one change. There is no 2002 S4. The S4 is cancelled after 2001. This always happens when new models come out. Much as the M3 took a year off when the new 3-series came out, the S4 is disappearing worldwide when the new A4 comes out in Europe, which is 2002. This is what Audi says, at least. I'm sure the S4 will return later, but no one knows exactly ... Read More

Deposit for 2001 S4
Written by: antonn on Jun 23, 2000 7:20:28 PM
Hi all! I went to place a deposit for a new S4 today and was very surprised when the dealer (Rector Audi, Burlingame, CA) asked for 5 grand instead of 1 that other dealers asked for. Has anyone heard of dealers doing this and if so what difference does it make if it I can still cancel my order? Thanks in advance! Anton.

This may sound ignorant to purists, but is Audi planning on redesigning the A4 series for 2001? If so, does anyone know what the new edition will look like? Will the S4 still be offered?

Did you purchase a US spec S4? I am an Army doc and hopefully may be stationed at Landstuhl around 2001. I have heard that BMW gives better pricing for active duty, so a new M3 would be high on my list. How was dealing with AUDI AG and if US spec will they honor the US warrenty/maintance? How long did you have to wait for your S4? Currently have an ... Read More
