Review

This has been an excellent car. Snows/winter wheels essential, and it is like a cat. Mostly problem free... new headlight washer pump(s?) and oxygen sensor, the latter fixed under emissions control warranty. Otherwise just routine maintenance. Performance suggest torque/hp ratings understated, as it feels fully as quick as the newer V8 models. Interior is of ultra high quality materials and design, and looks/feels as new after more than 6 years. Whole car is tight and performs as new. An absolute bargain at today's used car value, even putting aside $ for possible eventual repairs.

Favorite Features

Power, especially at lowish rpm where most cars feel flat, classy interior, looks, size, handling, and solid quality feel throughout. Sound of trunk closing says it all. Rattle and squeak free.

Suggested Improvements

For those who need it, a little more room in back seat. Gearing is lower than need be given the torque avaiable (but therefore even 6th gear responsiveness at 60 mph or more is phenomonal as a result).

Looks, performance, practical body style, reasonable price, and all- weather capability. Reliability of mine has been much better than some of the stories I have heard. Currently 103 kmi on it and the following has happened: water temperature sending unit replaced, three rear wheel bearings replaced (one twice), ABS module rebuilt, three rear Bose speakers replaced (one twice), cruise control needed electrical cleaner, headlight washers were fixed, front brakes replaced twice (normal), timing belt changed, along with all- associated hardware and a failing water pump (normal, but expensive repair), battery replaced (normal) and MAF sensor replaced. Up to 28 mi/gal achieved.

Favorite Features

HID xenon head lights, automatic HVAC, power heated lumbar front sport seats, AWD, 6 speed manual, twin turbocharged V6, power tilt/slide moonroof, large brakes, great ride quality

Suggested Improvements

improve fuel economy, improve reliability of electronics, shifter mechansm is a bit rubbery, some body roll

Review

I have the car three years and only mods were a APR chip and K&N. Big difference in performance and has been very reliable. Had to do timing belt and water pump at 72000 because water pump puked. Very expensive part of the ownership. Car is awsome and very aatractive. Used it for a work commuter for a year but found gas expensives forced car to become weekend toy.

performance and handling. Sneaky fast over 20 mph

Suggested Improvements

Chain instead of timing belt. Cost of parts are scarey. More leg room in back seat. Car is more of a large two seat sports car

Review

The Audi S4 is about the most amazing vehicle that I have ever driven. This completely outdoes any corvette. I just drove the new C6 and my S4 is faster and more fun to drive, and much more of an everyday car!! I give it hands down to Audi for their amazing technology and design.

The all leather interior. Bose speaker system...It also has an amazing 2 subwoofer's

Never Again!

Review

In the 18 months I've owned this vehicle I put in over $3000 in repairs & maintenance. Something is continually going wrong with this car: Fuel gauge unit, throttle body, fuel line, ABS control unit, CV boot, turn signal. These were not minor repairs as the parts and labor were very expensive. I hope to sell this care very soon. I will never own another Audi.

Favorite Features

It has power, traction & hugs the road. Also carries 4 people fairly comfortably and is quiet. Some nice luxury features like Xenon headlights, climate control, Bose system, & lots of computer gauge info.

Suggested Improvements

Improve reliability!! Given the original retail cost, nothing major should break down on this car (with suggested maintenance done) within the first 100,000 miles!!!

Review

The K03 turbo chargers run out of air in the upper RPM range. In order to get full performance out of this car the turbos will need replacement. You will probably blow the stock ones anyways so plan on either getting a car that has a warranty, or spending some serious dough out of pocket to get them fixed

Favorite Features

Bose stereo, 2 tone leather interior, HID headlights, One touch windows, driver display with navigation, auto dimming mirrors, home control unit, cellular phone, low end torque that could pull a tractor out of a canyon

Stiffer suspension and short shifter to clean up some of the slop

Review

Excellent acceleration and handling. Great summer cruiser and ski vehicle. 27mpg on trips. Tends to sandblast rocker panels over time. Essentially a 4-wheel drive, 4-door Corvette I can use to haul my kids to the ski slopes!

Favorite Features

Acceleration, interior design, comfort, and clandestine, yet classy exterior.

Suggested Improvements

Deflect rocks away from rocker panels to prevent denuding the paint.

Review

I've had my 2000 Audi S4 for two years now, and it continues to thrill me each and every time I drive it. It's been reliable (so far) and is great fun to drive in the midwest in winter with snow tires. I have held off on upgrading to the newer version, cause I am still happy to be driving this each day.

Handing, cornering, speed, exterior and interior design.

Not many - if you can get your hands on a clean one, it's a steal.

Fun to drive, nightmare to own

Review

Issues included: A/C system was improperly assembled and poured water into the passenger seat. Water pump, catalytic converters, oxygen sensors, and coil packs - all replaced. When I brought it in last week, the ABS computer was shot. Cruise control switch shot. This car is a piece of crap. When the cats and pre-cats were replaced under an emissions system warranty, at Metro, I had to pay for new O2 sensors. They were an Audi mandated repair along with the converters, but Audi wouldn't cover it EVEN THOUGH THEY REQUIRED IT AS PART OF THE WARRANTY REPAIR. I got Audi customer service to cover half the cost, and they acted like they were doing me a favor.

Favorite Features

Power and handling are unreal for a sedan.

Suggested Improvements

Stop building garbage, and make the warranty longer. Short warranties for high priced cars with lousy reliability and lousy customer service will lose Audi customers. It has already lost them one.

Review

Love it: Fun to drive, especially in the twisties of the North Georgia mountains. Plenty of room for the family of four and trunk space for travel or sports events. Still my favorite car since my 67 Firebird Convertible (and drives much better). Hate it: In less than 35000 miles it has needed a new radio, transmission, clutch, flywheel, driver's airbag, and in-dash electronics. Also, on third set of tires (Bridgestones went at 6k and 17k). Most (including tires) has been covered under warranty (3 years only).

Favorite Features

Acceleration and handling.

Suggested Improvements

Better reliability backed by longer warranty.
