Overall

All of the Audi A4's good stuff plus 420 hp and a more aggressive look earn the RS4 high marks.

Dynamics

Brilliant direct-injected 4.2-liter V8 makes all the right sounds and 420 hp. Handling is as good as any four-door sold today.

Comfort

Audi's dynamic ride control, which links diagonally opposite front and rear dampers, provides the best ride comfort in this class. Seats are supportive and firm, but comfortable.

Function

Excellent gauge layout compromised by awkward navigation interface and generally button-heavy design for most other controls.

Design/Build Quality

Gorgeous fender flares and other performance oriented details beef up the standard A4 to look genuinely mean. Excellent assembly and materials inside.

High Performer First and foremost the RS4 is a performance car. It's powerful, fast, handles well and makes all the right sounds.

Image Enhancer The RS4 will get you noticed by the people who matter, but will still slip under the radar of those who you'd rather not have notice you.

Daily Commuter Far from fuel efficient or economical transportation the RS4 could, nonetheless, be used as a daily driver -- and a darned fine one.
