I live in the Chicago area and I have owned an 2007 RS4 for over two years and street race when I get the opportunity. I have raced against souped up EVOs, GTOs, Challengers, Honda whatevers, standard corvettes and NONE of them keep up with my RS4 in 0-60 mode. I bought a 2007 RS4 several months ago after a long time trying many different sport salons. I tried the old and new M5, M3, Z4M Coupe, S6, E55AMG and some others not even worth mentioning. Regards the M5 vs RS4, the RS4 was just a better overall package. Sure the new M5 is faster (but only slightly), but it can't match the feel of the RS4. The Audi is a much better drive, ... Weight, to anyone who knows about cars is not a "last detail", it is one the most important aspects of a car. Audi is embarrassed to put the weight on the www site after it spent so much time saying how it was working on lowering the weight of the RS4. Yes I completely agree with you- it adds to the exclusivity tremendously. It would kill me if Audi offered an "RS" version of every model, but "S" versions are acceptable- they're for people who want to cruise, like myself, but still push their cars.
