Re: 2007 Audi A8 Short Sport [technar]
Written by: cctdi on Feb 28, 2007 2:40:27 PM
I think the A8 is a car good enough for me in all aspects; somehow, by driving it, you feel you want more of the A8, and that is why I am waiting for the S8’ coming by the end of March or early April. Then, again, what do I need the big hp for? The cups in South Jersey give out the speeding tickets like the sex hormone desire in ... Read More

Got it. Misunderstood the original post. On a different note... After about a year I'm ready for something different. Just not enough power. Maybe an S8 or a 911. Any other A8 owner wants to share their opinion?

technar, The A8 doesn't have the S line treatments with the more agressive front end, steering wheel stitching, different wood or metal trim, and S line badges like the A3, A4, A6, & Q7. The A8 has a sport pacakge, but it's only upgraded wheels & sport suspension.

I don't think a sport package does anything to the residual on an A8. The S line cars do have a slightly lower residual in the A4's, but there is no S line A8.

Hi berisky. I can give you an idea of what this car's current lease program is like. You never mentioned how long you want to lease it for or what sort of mileage allowance you need, so for now I am going to assume that you are interested in a 36 month lease with 15,000 miles per year. Let me know if you want something different. Audi Financial Services' current buy ... Read More

A8L (2006 or 2007)
Written by: iamtheid on Jan 7, 2007 10:44:33 PM
I know that I had the best deal in my 2005 A8L, the last year Audi covered everything, not just scheduled maintenance, and sold the tire/wheel package, and had OnStar, etc. But my car was almost $90k plus extra options. How can yours be so cheap? I had the 19" wheels, but I also had every option "except" the solar sunroof, plus the tire/wheel 48 month option, Auto-Armor, VERY IMPORTANT in ... Read More

2007 S8 / 2005 A8L
Written by: iamtheid on Jan 7, 2007 4:16:36 PM
I always lease because of the huge deduction on my company or myself, personally. I can write off 100% of the payment, the insurance, the gas, etc. I do have several cars but always treat the Audi as my "business car". That being said, I helped the dealership that sold me my A8L by selling another 40 cars to other friends of mine, albeit A4 Turbo's, A6's, and about another 8 ... Read More

Oh, my dream would be the 335dxi coupe... I know they'd never come out with an AWD diesel (that would be REALLY imitating Audi), but it's the ideal BMW, IMO. If not, I want a 335xi two-door. Is that coming out? I hope so. The new E92 is not only a beauty, but it has a fantastic new powertrain, a surprising amount of standard features and a more exclusive feel. Because ... Read More

LS460 Debacle.....
Written by: merc1 on Dec 11, 2006 3:31:03 PM
Sword down for a moment. In reading the LS board I sense that some have decided to leave us again because there hasn't been enough praise of the new LS. In fairness, the review in which one compares the LS460L to the E63 AMG is bunk and not at all fair to the LS460L. Car and Driver's comparo while having some curious points concerning weight and having used a pre-production LS460L, ... Read More

November Sales Data for Lexus LS and Mercedes S-Class

Lexus and Mercedes-Benz have their sales data on their websites and is as follows (I found Lexus data at Toyota website): Lexus link title The LS 430 and the all-new LS 460 reported combined sales of 3,613, an increase of 116.3 percent. Mercedes link title (You will have to select December's data) Sales of the newest generation S-Class were nearly double this month over last November (2,780 vs. 1,400) I wonder ... Read More

I, too, look at AutoSpies sometimes to watch the posts. It's pretty hilarious. The people there are in constant fighting- it's like Lexus vs. Audi vs. BMW all the time! It's much more civilized here. And I wouldn't have it any other way. I'm assessing all the cars in the high-end class, from worst to best: Jaguar XJ: Old-world British charm just doesn't cut it any more. This car is beautiful ... I don't think it's necessarily Lexus alone that will be trouncing Mercedes-Benz in coming years... there are three main companies that have really upped their ante, and one is supposedly going to be as high of a seller as BMW and Mercedes-Benz by 2010: Audi- strongest MB/BMW competitor, because it has luxury and German engineering Infiniti- very sporty; closer to BMW than Mercedes-Benz Lexus- the complement to Infiniti, Lexus is to ... I just saw the new 2007 S class in person and was quite disappointed. The body shape doesn't look any better up close than it does in person. And I'm not a big fan of these "ATM" dashboards that seem to be growing in popularity. Mercedes stays on the path of poorly stlyed cars that reek of Chrysler and Cadillac Give me the current Audi A8 all day long over any ... Read More

Based on posts on the S-class board that's not the type of passion to be proud of. Personally I think all this passion nonsense is severely overblown and overhyped. If the passion was real the car would not lose value as rapidly as it does. In the 80's the passion argument made sense. Today it is total nonsense. Really? The excitement on the 2007 LS board is surely more indicative of ... Read More

We'll people always bashed Lexus for not having any kind of styling "direction" and that each car just kind of did its own thing. Now they are starting to build some cars with a "family" resemblance, and you're bashing them for that. What should they do? If that is an official pic, which it looks like it is...then that is a whole lot better looking than current car. That said I don't see where the A8, S, or XJ have anything to worry about in the style department. While better than the current car it is no more than a super sized IS. I see a lot more Audi in Conneticut and Wesrchester county. But if you talk to people, many opted for Audi because of the AWD. I don't get it when you talk about all these engines and platform options. MB's S had two engines in the affordable range for their base cars - a 275HP and a 303 HP when I shopped in 2001.
