The new 2008 A8 is a minor re-style. There isn't a new 2008 A8 on a dealers lot right now. The offical release won't be until November. There's usually no incentives on A8 leases. If there's dealer cash, it's always at the end of the model year. There's dealer cash on leftover 2007's right now. Unless you put a lot of money down, it's hard to get out of an A8 ... Read More
Got the dealership to $42k for a 07 Certified A8 (48k miles, luxury package, backup camera, winter package, steering wood kit, alcantera trim). Is that a good price (was listed for $45.5k). In Atlanta, the 2007 Certified A8s are ~3.5K more than a comparable BMW 750Li. The Audi dealerships are not able to match the BMW prices. Any idea what's going on? I like the A8s, but can't justify spending the ... Read More

I am looking to put at least 100k on this car and want to make sure there isnt anything i need to know about as far as problems. ANy help would be appreciated. Thanks
Hey guys, I just wanted to give everyone an update on my Audi experience in Virginia. I have a 2007 BMW 530xi coming off lease. Although I was happy with my car, I was looking to upgrade. I looked at an Audi A8L a few weeks ago. There was one in the showroom, with the B&O audio/Sport package, etc, for an MSRP of around 89,000, and we negotiated to around 84,500. ... Read More
As the past owner of a 1999 and a 2005 A8, and now an S8, I can say that my experiences have always been favorable. However, I have not had a high mileage car, generally parting with them at around 50k miles or so. In spite of the car being more technologically advanced than the smaller Audis, it seems like they have fewer problems. I should add that my wife and ... Read More
Don't count on great leasing deals on the 2007 A8 as time goes by. The new 08 A8 models won't be here until late October or November at the earliest. The A8/S8 is currently the only car that has no year end dealer cash or special financing incentives. That leads me to believe there aren't a whole lot of 07 A8's sitting on dealer lots, and Audi isn't really worried about ... Read More
Hi hotsko. Audi's current lease program for the 2007 A8 is scheduled to run through July 31st. It is difficult to say what its August program for this car will be like, but I personally do not expect it to be dramatically different. Car_man Host Prices Paid Forum
I have several friends with older 1998-2003 audi's of various models (with moderate mileage - about 60k), they often complain or electrical gremlins and various other component failures with their cars. I'm looking for feedback from 2006/2007 A8 owners and their reliability experiences.
What you were told is correct, orm1. Audi Financial Services' Premier Purchase Program is what is known as a balloon note program. Balloon notes use interest rates instead of money factors to calculate the interest portion of payments. I do not personally keep tabs on the details of balloon note programs, but the 2.25% interest rate that you were quoted for this car looks about right to me. Car_man Host Prices ... Read More
Normally when I do not know an answer, I stand aside and let someone more knowledgeable take it. But since you directed your question to me, I will just tell you that I am not sure. But, since the system is DVD-based, requiring no software upgrade like a PC might, it seems you can safely jump over versions. On the 2005 A8 I currently have for sale, I went from the ... Read More
A8's are in extremely short supply and there are very few on dealer lots right now depending on the region you live in. Audi doesn't have to really push this car int the US market with inventory levels so low, so that's why the residuals are pretty bad right now.
Hi Tim-in-Cali. The Audi A8 is definitely a very nice car. The selling price that you were quoted, $1,100 over dealer invoice, isn't bad. Audi's March lease program is different than the numbers that you were quoted though. Audi Financial Services' current buy rate lease money factor and residual value for a 36 month lease of a 2007 A8 Short Wheel Base with 12,000 miles per year are .00080 and 40% ... Read More
Car_Man I started my quest for a new car this week and had no intentions of buying an A8. Well needless to say, one look and I was hooked. The offer I have on the table is the following: A8 Short w/ premium, 19”, massage, Sirius MSRP - $77970 Invoice - $72574 (according to KBB) Offer - $73608 Residual – 44% (45% if I have them throw in the $599 maintenance ... Audi gives you a limited warranty for 2 yrs and up to 100k miles from original in-service date. Example: 2007 A8, 23k miles, originally sold 12/30/06, resold as CPO vehicle. New owner has full factory warranty until 12/30/10 or 50k miles. Whenever either milestone is reached (4 yrs/50k miles), the CPO warranty kicks in. Realistically, you have a limited warranty until 12/30/12 or 100k miles. MB has a similar limited warranty, ... Read More
How do you like your S8? I just got my 2007 in May. Took 2 months to order as I like it. I had 2 problems which you should check out. 1. The transmission gasket leaked and they needed to get a newer thicker one with a new "high heat" sealent. Also a small fuel pump was leaking, no fluid on ground, but same fuel smell. I think the A8 is a car good enough for me in all aspects; somehow, by driving it, you feel you want more of the A8, and that is why I am waiting for the S8’ coming by the end of March or early April. Then, again, what do I need the big hp for? The cups in South Jersey give out the speeding tickets like the sex hormone desire in ... Read More
Got it. Misunderstood the original post. On a different note... After about a year I'm ready for something different. Just not enough power. Maybe an S8 or a 911. Any other A8 owner wants to share their opinion?
technar, The A8 doesn't have the S line treatments with the more agressive front end, steering wheel stitching, different wood or metal trim, and S line badges like the A3, A4, A6, & Q7. The A8 has a sport pacakge, but it's only upgraded wheels & sport suspension.
"but there is no S line A8" - what do you mean, rjlaero?
I don't think a sport package does anything to the residual on an A8. The S line cars do have a slightly lower residual in the A4's, but there is no S line A8.
I agree with Doc and it seems we are in good company as the LS out sold the A8 in the U.S. by about 10 to 1 in Jan 2007: LS--3005 A8--303 Say what you want about sales but Audi would love to have those 3000 sales instead of 300. Looks like quite a few people actually test drove the LS and liked it.
Thanks for the info. With that residual, I will not be getting an Audi.
Hi berisky. I can give you an idea of what this car's current lease program is like. You never mentioned how long you want to lease it for or what sort of mileage allowance you need, so for now I am going to assume that you are interested in a 36 month lease with 15,000 miles per year. Let me know if you want something different. Audi Financial Services' current buy ... Read More
I know that I had the best deal in my 2005 A8L, the last year Audi covered everything, not just scheduled maintenance, and sold the tire/wheel package, and had OnStar, etc. But my car was almost $90k plus extra options. I always lease because of the huge deduction on my company or myself, personally. I can write off 100% of the payment, the insurance, the gas, etc. I do have several cars but always treat the Audi as my "business car". That being said, I helped the dealership that sold me my A8L by selling another 40 cars to other friends of mine, albeit A4 Turbo's, A6's, and about another 8 ... Read More
Anyone (in CA) do a lease for a 2007 A8 Sport? Most of the posts seem to be about the A8L and I want to get some info before I visit a dealer.
Oh, my dream would be the 335dxi coupe... I know they'd never come out with an AWD diesel (that would be REALLY imitating Audi), but it's the ideal BMW, IMO. If not, I want a 335xi two-door. Is that coming out? I hope so. The new E92 is not only a beauty, but it has a fantastic new powertrain, a surprising amount of standard features and a more exclusive feel. Because ... Read More
Sword down for a moment. In reading the LS board I sense that some have decided to leave us again because there hasn't been enough praise of the new LS. In fairness, the review in which one compares the LS460L to the E63 AMG is bunk and not at all fair to the LS460L. Car and Driver's comparo while having some curious points concerning weight and having used a pre-production LS460L, ... Read More

I, too, look at AutoSpies sometimes to watch the posts. It's pretty hilarious. The people there are in constant fighting- it's like Lexus vs. Audi vs. BMW all the time! It's much more civilized here. Well, I myself have had no problems with my Audi dealer, because I am fairly close with my salesman. Islandguy, historically, in the USA, the big Audi's have horrid resale values(except the rare and powerful W12's). Why? Plenty of variables. One, it is the lowest seller in the HELM market in the US, thus not making it enough of a popular model to warrant a lofty second-hand price. Then there is the Audi name, admittedly by me, not quite as catchy in the US as in the rest of the ... Read More
An excellent idea now that purchasing is on contention that there is a third row available. Audi has recently scrubbed the notion of the V8 diesel that they use in the Euro markets as it would prove useless to retrofit it for the now-stringent US emission laws. With that being said, the company says it will now use the same V10-TDI from VW(Porsche is also said to use this engine) that ... Read More

Of course, its residual values ... Read More
I haven't heard of any more problems than other HELMs, and way less than any 7-Series and S-Class. I am very wary of the 7-Series as I had one that basically imploded. I see Audi light years ahead of BMW and MB in quality and reliability especially on the new models. The surveys won't reflect this until the 2007 and 2008 years. And there is no way the new Lexus compares ... Read More
Since you are getting the awesome Audi S8, another high perfomance car might be overkill. Since you are accustomed to the Audi A8L W12, another similar type of HELM like the Audi A8 is probably the best bet for you. The rear visibility is a bit tight, but it has not been a problem for me. All A8s come with standard Audi Parktronic which is a great way to measure your distance from another object not just when backing up, but going forward, and even on the sides. I don't think it's necessarily Lexus alone that will be trouncing Mercedes-Benz in coming years... there are three main companies that have really upped their ante, and one is supposedly going to be as high of a seller as BMW and Mercedes-Benz by 2010: Audi- strongest MB/BMW competitor, because it has luxury and German engineering Infiniti- very sporty; closer to BMW than Mercedes-Benz Lexus- the complement to Infiniti, Lexus is to ... Based on posts on the S-class board that's not the type of passion to be proud of. Personally I think all this passion nonsense is severely overblown and overhyped. If the passion was real the car would not lose value as rapidly as it does. In the 80's the passion argument made sense. Today it is total nonsense. Really? The excitement on the 2007 LS board is surely more indicative of ... Read More
