2012 Audi A6 3.0T Premium quattro 4dr Sedan AWD (3.0L 6cyl S/C 8A)
This is my first German car and am very happy so far.
I compared the new A6 to 535xi and Infiniti M.
The A6's interior was by far the best of the three - very comfortable seats, awesome high tech features, and enough room for 3 kids in the back.
MMI/voice system works much better than the BMW's version.
Great fuel efficiency on highway, much better than 28 mpg rated.
One of best features is adaptive cruise control, which works amazingly well.
One downside in this particular vehicle was that it was built and sold with a "2.0T" badge on rear and was also sold without the appropriate rear view camera chip, both items which the dealer will address.
Braking a tad longer than on my '10 MDX.
Adaptive cruise control, roominess, incredibly quiet interior even at highway speeds, comfortable ride, efficient engine for highway cruising, beautiful interior, fairly easy to use MMI system, excellent sound system (Bose).
Google maps and points of interest are very good.
There really are too many other positives to list and in my opinion sets this car apart from the 5 series.
The power in this car is also very impressive - it's such a wide peak range as compared to BMW.
If you are in market for a car in this segment, definitely put new A6 on top of list (go for Prestige and include the adaptive cruise control in whatever package you buy).
While small issues, quality control on this particular vehicle is a little worrisome.
In addition, while the LED headlights are cool looking, they do not project as far as HID lights in MDX (though they are brighter, and high beams work well).
Given the technology and the Audi Connect service, they should really include more online features in the MMI, such as Pandora rather than streaming from iphone.
In addition, MMI should really address voicemail in their system to provide the input of "pauses" to access voicemails that require passwords and other character inputs.
Again probably all small gripes for most people as this car really is amazing.
I'm looking to buy a new A6 as well, but can't decide between the LED lights vs. HID?
Any opinions after the fact.
I'm confused if you believe the LED are brighter or not.
Are they adaptive like the HIDs?
Can you go around corners and see well with them?
