Re: how many miles can i get on an Audi [kennyj1]

A person I used to work with did have an apparently uber reliable German car: Mercedes diesel. One of the techs at my Audi dealer has an Audi with 175,000 miles on it -- no major issues. I have 40K -- the car, a 2005 A6 3.2, feels "as it did the day I got it." I am clueless as to what that means in terms of its durability and potential for long life. It "seems" as if it ought to ... 2007 Infiniti G35x vs. 2006 Audi A6 3.2 Quattro

Re: 2007 Infiniti G35x VS. 2006 Audi A6 3.2 Quattro [thenatureboy]

Those two cars don't compare very well. the Audi is nearly $10K more then the G35. it's considerably more of a car the the infiniti. But what comes with the Audi is mediocre reliability and a very poor resale value. If price isn't an issue I would take the A6 over the G35 as long as the Audi comes with a full warranty. Audi's are also tanks (in a good way) it's bay far the ... Read More...

Re: 2007 Infiniti G35x VS. 2006 Audi A6 3.2 Quattro [thenatureboy]

Well, for one, I'd knock Quattro of your Pro list. I think the G35x has much more to offer here. It's RWD when the roads are clear, offering incredible handling, and AWD when you need it. In "Snow Mode", it pushes 50% of it's power to the front wheels, making it great in the snow, so no worries there. As for mileage, the Audi may get a slight nod, but it's very slight. I'm ... 2007 Infiniti G35x VS. 2006 Audi A6 3.2 Quattro

Pretty much narrowed down to these 2 vehicles, but would like to hear comments from people who tried either vehicle or just looking for some feedback in general. I would be comparing a 07 G35x with the premium pack versus a 06 A6 3.2 Quattro with the premium and convenience pack. Might be a little gap in the pricing department, but not much. From what I've noticed ... Read More...

Re: 535Xi [lexusguy]

lexusguy, I tend to agree with your logic on the M45x question. Could be similar to why BMW doesn't offer a 550Xi. In fairness to the A-6, my comment on size may be a bit in error. When I went to the BMW web site and did a comparison between the (2007) 5 series and A6, it showed the A-6 width as 79.2", which is 6.5" wider than the 5 series and 7.7" wider than the 3 series. But ... Read More...

Re: I love my 2005 A6. . .and. . . [kgary]

One of the "benefits" of having a 2005 with about 35,000 miles on it is the use of the newest A6's as "loaners." The loaners, typically, are 3.2's w/a "few" options, Premium, Sunroof, etc. They are not typically S-Line or V8's. So, one gets the use of an A6 from time to time that is "brand new." I kept my last loaner about 26 hours, and other than the digital readout of ... Read More...

I love my 2005 A6. . .and. . .

. . .my A6 has virtually every possible option offered at the time, is a V6 and other than one set of new tires and the initial issues with the "push-button/smart-key," the car has been "flawless" as far as I am concerned. Now with about 13K miles and 10 months left on the lease (and a wife in a similar situation with her BMW 2005 X3 -- minus one month), I am weary of test ... Read More...

Re: Quattro [rjlaero]

When I leased my 2007 Audi A6 I was surprised at the depreciation factor compared to MB and BMW....but I leased it and the more I drive it, the more I love it. After 20 years of MB it was a big change and I am glad I did it. As for subsidizing. When MB and BMW subsidize their cars all they do is "accelerate" the sale of that car from next month to this month and then next month ... Read More...

Audi backguard vs active head restraints

My wife just ordered an A6 based on the safety ratings and great test drive and just after ordering the car we were comparing the A6 and A8 and Volvo S80 and noticed that the A6 does not have active head restraints but still is top-rated for rear-end collision safety. There is a safety system called Audi backguard which is mentioned in the Audiusa safety pages for ... Read More...
