This topic was discussed years ago but I don't see a resolution anywhere. My fully equipped 2005 A6 4.2L has everything but an audio jack. I'd give up my CD multi-changer to have one. Certainly there has to be a way to achieve this by now. Ideally, I would hard wire an iphone doc to it and just drop my phone into it and punch the CD button to hear it ... Read More
I posted a while back some issues with my wife's 2005 A6. Summary: Slow tight turns, such as into a garage or parking space caused a low vibration that shook the entire vehicle. My Jeep with lockers turned quieter and smoother. Despite efforts with replacing tires and such, the dealership continually told us "working as expected". Well, don't let me loose on the Internet. :) I found several TSB's that addressed ... Read More
Hi dalia1, For starters you may want to go to "Erwin.com" for Audi America buy an hours worth of time and research your "Locked in Park" problem there. If your 95 has a Locking theft system then it gets a bit complicated and could be a number of thing. As a comparison only: Here's what I hear when I start my 2005 A6 Quattro with anti-theft system and Tiptronic Automatic Trans: ... Read More
You know, I love my 2009 A4 and it is a better PERFORMING car than the outgoing 2005 A6. But, tho I live in a BIG TOWN (or small city, Cincinnati), I just can't really use the performance the Audi offers. Imagine how I feel with 10 cylinders, and no autobahn to use them on. I think my pick for the entry-lux segment is still the S4, although Infiniti has done ... Read More
I come here from time to time, but the, er, attendance, is way down here. Perhaps it is because there aren't enough NEW models to merit discussion; or, perhaps, worse, "it's the economy stupid." You know, though, my $53,286 MSRP A6 (2005) went for the same monthly lease for the same term as my ~$49K MSRP A4 (2009) -- all this during a time when the Fed cut rates to nearly ... Read More
I bought my A6 used and it came with a Sirius radio. I went ahead and bought a subscription, but now I cannot get it to activate and I have tried several times with tech support from Sirius. Any ideas as to what I can do next?
The A4 Premium is a strippie -- and really would not even be part of the LPS crowd. I traded in a loaded $53K+ 2005 A6 for a more loaded $49K 2009 A4 Prestige. The wheelbase of the B8 A4 is over 110" -- a hair, a thin hair, shorter than the A6's. The A6, however was slightly wider than the new gen A4 and overall length of the A4 is ... Read More

Greetings A6 Fans, I was on the net last night and found a Specification list, (source unknown) as well as Package and optional equipment offered by Audi, A6 2005 Quattro FSI. Oh No! It's electrical again. Dear Newbie: Don't give up just yet, these are not serious problems. First and easiest solution: When you say brake light you mean the "Indicator light for brake pads"???? If that's correct, the check the brake pads, warning sensors on the pads for loose or short circuit. The warning beep, I had twice this winter, not sure what it means but I'm going in for service ... It either comes with a Tiptronic.with shift paddles or the standard version with the gear shift in the middle consoled and no ... Read More
Greetings, Wow, enough problems to choke a horse. Do you have a question? Or! If I understand your post correctly you purchased a car with a Rebuild engine (ATQ). In Germany, Classic Cars are classified by age starting with 25 Years. At thirty ... Read More
There have been MANY MANY little running changes/improvements to the C6 since it was brought out in 2004 (2005 MY, US). Here's what I think was meant, and it is relevant only to the 2009 and 2010 MY versions. A6 could be had with a 3.0TFSI (Supercharged) 300HP engine coupled to a revised software (faster, smoother, shifts) 6 speed tiptronic. The quattro (TorSen) system, remains active, as opposed to reactive, but ... Read More
My perception or comparison, if you like, was from this perspective: I got out of a 2005 Audi C6 A6 which was pretty well loaded and walked over to my new 2009 Audi B8 A4 (about 15 months ago). My 2009 A4 Prestige with Audi Drive Select, 19" sport package, almond wood trim, navigation+rear camera and power rear sunshade is either "about the same" as the outgoing A6 or, for the detail minded, a substantial upgrade in several key areas. First off, the B8 A4 has a 110+" wheelbase -- very very close to the C6 A6. The C6 is a bit wider and from front to rear is longer ... Read More
Morning Qfixer: Sorry, I don't know where the Heater control values are, hopefully within reach. Also check the Fuse listing in your manual if you have one, see if those heater controls are fused, that would be a really easy fix. Hi Mike: I've had my A6 Quattro since Aug 09, a 2005 model, First sold in July 04. Could someone share your most recent 08' A6 purchase or lease price? Thanks.
I went to the dealer thinking I was going to lease an 09 A4 actually. To my surprise the deal was 399 a month, 4300 down, but a 21k buy out which is ridiculous, because when the lease is up in 3 years you could probably buy the car for 18 or 19. My dealer talked me into the A6, and honestly the 05 A6 drives better then the 09 A4 ... Read More

As an Audi fan -- maven really -- I have posted (favorably) about my now gone 2005 A6 3.2 many times. I am now driving an '09 A4 2.0T Prestige edition and it is a step up from the '05 A6. Never had a transmission problem, drive train problem, quattro problem, abnormal tire wear problem (even tho there were some short tread life issues, apparently not associated with any brand of car) and some brake rotor problems. I did not care for the 5 speed tiptronic, but usually called its operation annoying rather than something worse. ... Read More
I have an 2005 A6 which makes a clicking sound at 2500 to 4000 rpms. After 2 years of trying to figure out what it's from the best Audi can tell me is it's heater vent doors opening and closing when heat is being provided to the car's cabin. I don't know if this is your noise but sometimes it comes from the back and most often from the front and ... Read More
I don't know where to post this, so, I'll post here and link from the Cadillac CTS and LPS forums. Here goes: My 2005 C6 A6 despite some, to me, very few minor issues -- always cheerfully repaired by Audi -- is as tight as the day I got it. My reading of the Previews of the CTS AWD, etc., etc., seems to indicate it will be brought out with about, ... Read More
OMG -- the picture (side/profile) on page one looks like the fraternal twin of the 2005 A6. The head on pictures now look slightly less like a Pontiac, but still the "Pontiac-popularized" slant eyed look remains. The Audi trout mouth is an acquired taste, to be sure; but, the BMW 5 still (to my eye, and for all I know, my eye alone) is, er, butt oogly. They are great driving ... Read More
All of the Audis my wife and I have had since that first 1978 Audi 5000 in 1977 have been purchased from the same dealer. Most of them, by far, from the same salesman (who is not in management at the dealership.) The dealership, owned by ONE GUY, was sold to a billion dollar company several years ago. The dealership built a new 7 million dollar dealership. They sell about 600 ... Read More
You are correcto-mundo! The A6 has Servotronic, the slower you go the greater the boost. Servotronic II by ZF apparently (since I have not driven a car with this) changes both the force required based on road speed and the reaction to steering wheel motions (also releated to road speed.) Audi, BMW, Cadillac, LandRover, Volvo all use Servotronic, some applications (in some models) use Servotronic II. I think I would like ... Read More
WOW. I had the following (not a complete list): 1995 S6 1997 A8 1999 A6 2.8 2000 A6 4.2 comfort 2001 A6 4.2 sport 2003 allroad 2.7T 2005 A6 3.2 with 18" wheels and 245 x 40 x 18" tires At the same time, my wife had multiple A4's, three TT's and one BMW X3 3.0. The A6 is the quietest of the bunch (including the A8), it also is both ... Read More
I read the line "single mode 'old lady' Servotronic steering kills the entire otherwise great car" with keen interest. You see, in 2005, after months of test driving cars from Europe, Japan and the US, we came to find that both BMW and Audi had some vehicles we could really enjoy. The BMW sub-venting machine was offering a $47K vehicle for $581 per month for 36 months 45K miles with no ... Read More
Sales (US): "AUBURN HILLS, MI – Audi of America, Inc. set sales records during December 2006 and for the calendar year 2006, eclipsing the previous annual sales high set three years ago. Audi sold 11,897 vehicles in December, bringing the brand’s annual total sales to 90,116. Audi’s December 2006 record sales were 34.6% ahead of year-ago sales. The calendar year sales represented an 8.5% increase over 2005." Followed by: "Audi A6 ... Read More
Are you looking for maximum or optimum? Are you looking at #1 as a "deal breaker" and #2 as less of a deal breaker? What does the ranking of "performance on slippery roads" have to do with the [broader] "safety" trait? I would assume if #1 was safety that your current #4 would have been your #2, that is. Again, "general performance," [I would argue] is a significant contributing factor to ... Read More
I have a 2005 Audi A6 automatic 3.2 with 25K miles. The air conditioner has started emitting very hot air (not just warm) out of the driver's side dash vent--followed occasionally by hot air coming out of the middle vents. This occurs after the air conditioner has functioned normally for a half hour or so. It is so hot that the silver-colored clip on the vent louvers is almost too hot ... Read More
Despite it lackluster sales performance in the US of LATE, Audi overall is on a roll. In Germany, at least. Well, in China, too. And, actually even in Great Britan. I know this is MOSTLY a US web log site, but: "The Audi A6 is the clear no. 1 in its category in Germany with 52,299 registrations in the first 10 months!" Or, an average of 5,229 per month for 10 ... Read More
