Allmet33! Audi recalls are listed on the Audi Web page. You simply ID your Vehicle with VIN Number and they will tell you if there are any recalls for your model. No need to wait for the letter or go to the dealer. Check your Mfg. date of your vehicle, if it's pre-July 2004 it has a timing belt if it's after July 04 then it has a Chain driven Cam ... Read More

Oh No! It's electrical again. Dear Newbie: Don't give up just yet, these are not serious problems. First and easiest solution: When you say brake light you mean the "Indicator light for brake pads"???? If that's correct, the check the brake pads, warning sensors on the pads for loose or short circuit. The warning beep, I had twice this winter, not sure what it means but I'm going in for service ... What I've read about the two types of transmissions is limited but what I did note is the following: 1. The CVT (Continues Velocity Trans) is not offered in the quattro A6. It either comes with a Tiptronic.with shift paddles or the standard version with the gear shift in the middle consoled and no ... Read More

Certainly it must be out of warranty after eight years. Honestly, you need to shake loose of that "Dream CAR". Your putting more in it than it's worth. There have been MANY MANY little running changes/improvements to the C6 since it was brought out in 2004 (2005 MY, US). Here's what I think was meant, and it is relevant only to the 2009 and 2010 MY versions. A6 could be had with a 3.0TFSI (Supercharged) 300HP engine coupled to a revised software (faster, smoother, shifts) 6 speed tiptronic. The quattro (TorSen) system, remains active, as opposed to reactive, but ... Read More

My perception or comparison, if you like, was from this perspective: I got out of a 2005 Audi C6 A6 which was pretty well loaded and walked over to my new 2009 Audi B8 A4 (about 15 months ago). The switchgear, the steering wheel (although my A6 did not have paddle shifters), the console, the wood, the feel of the leather, the seat's firmness, the instrument cluster, the soft plastic on ... My 2009 A4 Prestige with Audi Drive Select, 19" sport package, almond wood trim, navigation+rear camera and power rear sunshade is either "about the same" as the outgoing A6 or, for the detail minded, a substantial upgrade in several key areas. First off, the B8 A4 has a 110+" wheelbase -- very very close to the C6 A6. The C6 is a bit wider and from front to rear is longer ... Read More

Morning Qfixer: Sorry, I don't know where the Heater control values are, hopefully within reach. Also check the Fuse listing in your manual if you have one, see if those heater controls are fused, that would be a really easy fix. Your heater controls are those on my 2005 model, it could be that they are the same and have not changed since 2003, but don't know. JKAUDIA6

Hyundai makes remarkable cars. Mark's discussion about a stick in an A6 was for the pre-2004 car. When purchased new the 2005 Audi A6 4.2 cost a few thousand dollars more than the 2005 BMW 530. So it is not surprising that it costs more used. As far as depreciation, Edmunds claims that the Audi will depreciate $18,195 over 5 years, while the BMW will depreciate $16,824 over the same 5 years. On a percentage ... Read More

One of the "benefits" of having a 2005 with about 35,000 miles on it is the use of the newest A6's as "loaners." The loaners, typically, are 3.2's w/a "few" options, Premium, Sunroof, etc. They are not typically S-Line or V8's. So, one gets the use of an A6 from time to time that is "brand new." I kept my last loaner about 26 hours, and other than the digital readout ... Read More

At this point, here is what I believe is correct in response to your AWD+Sport desires: Sport used to mean: handling improvements due to anti-roll bar thickness increases (typically 20%), lowering of ride height (typically 20mm minimum) & with stiffer springs, plus 1 sizing of wheels/tires and a switch from H rated all-seasons to Z rated summer only, more damping in the shocks/struts (or active or passive damping), a reduction in ... Your prefs and biases will surely virtually dictate what you do regardless of what we say. The fact that you are going for a used car will also limit the population of cars you can acquire, too. You didn't mention any "need" (different than a preference) for AWD. Knowing what I know, reading (too much) of what I read and seeing all the bytes we post here on edmunds and elsewhere, ... As others have said, the maintenance and repairs for the cars you have listed could make a 10 year hold an expensive proposition. That said, I'd consider an Acura RL over the Audi A6. I own a 2004 TL 6-speed and it's quicker and more fun to drive than the RL, but not as luxurious. The RL has been a very tough sell for Acura, so good deals should be available. ... Read More

You are correcto-mundo! The A6 has Servotronic, the slower you go the greater the boost. Servotronic II by ZF apparently (since I have not driven a car with this) changes both the force required based on road speed and the reaction to steering wheel motions (also releated to road speed.) Audi, BMW, Cadillac, LandRover, Volvo all use Servotronic, some applications (in some models) use Servotronic II. I think I would like ... Read More

Are you looking for maximum or optimum? Are you looking at #1 as a "deal breaker" and #2 as less of a deal breaker? What does the ranking of "performance on slippery roads" have to do with the [broader] "safety" trait? I would assume if #1 was safety that your current #4 would have been your #2, that is.
