Re: 2000 A6 V8 4.2L [saxon2nsx]

I had one of these -- I'll give you some input: 1. What should I look out for that is specific to this model/year/engine? Nothing that I know of -- the 4.2 is thirsty, but the thing is powerful and smooth and sounds great. I had brake disk issues with mine which Audi fixed by replacing the entire brake system -- otherwise it only has a 5speed auto which TODAY would be considered, ... Read More...

2004 A6 S-Line - What should I expect???

Hey Everyone! We currently have a 2004 A6 2.7T. We've put roughly $3000 into repairs (mostly oil leaks, transmission fluid, and a vacuum hose) in the last year. The vehicle has only 63,000 miles on it. I guess I'm looking for some input on what to expect in the future for repairs. I spoke with a gentleman at the dealership and he mentioned that the turbo engines could ... Read More...

2004 audi a6 cv shaft

Hi folks, can you tell me what exactly has to be detached to replace the drivers front cv shaft. It looks like a bit more than my old mazda 626. I prefer not to unbolt more than I have to. Thanks, Mike Read More...

Audi A6 Lease Questions

Premium Purchase (Balloon) v. Lease

In 2004, when I "bought" my A6, the dealership convinced me to buy with a balloon note rather than lease. The numbers worked out slightly better. I had to pay the whole sales tax up front, but I avoided the acquisition and turn in fees. At the time, Audi had a highly subsidized finance rate, and I was able to get it either way. I'm on the verge of replacing the car, and ... Read More...

Re: Ignition Coils? [chrisaudi]

My advice is to sell...I have been going through the same thing-starting with having to replace the ignition coils (for the second time) and am now replacing the torque converter and am being told to expect the electronics for the ABS to be next (a $1500 item). I have a 2002 A6-granted not the same "animal" as yours, but from what I'm being told, once it starts to go, ... Read More...

Audi A6 Lease Questions

Re: Completely New to the Leasing Scene [sryn]

I think you're talking about the Premium Purchase program -- which is what I opted for in 2004. It's definitely a good option, and works very much like a lease, but you have to run the numbers. For instance, I'm paying 1/2 % interest, virtually nothing and just a tiny fraction above the subsidized rate that was available for leases at the time. So there wasn't any ... Read More...

Re: 04 Audi 2.7T [oodmoff]

I loved the 2004 A6 2.7T (SLine? as they all were at the end?) -- I really loved the 2.7T -- was this the uprated version (more than 250HP?) I have been very pleased with Audi reliability (except the 2000-2001 rotors -- and 47K is young. However, IF it does break, it will likely be breathtakingly exepensive if it turns out to be related to the turbo/engine. I also am ... Read More...

Audi A6 Lease Questions

Re: Just the facts [jam550]

There are no guarantees, of course, but I suspect that it will still apply -- more or less. I brought in my 2004 A6 for service last week and spoke to the dealership about my lease-end options in July. They advised sitting tight because they have a lot of A6s to sell and they expect that the offers will only improve. My guy was upfront about the $3,500 in Audi cash that's ... Read More...

2009 Audi A6

Re: Hi [kgary]

On the OTHER hand, the 3.0 kompressor engine would NOT require a new body. I assumed that the new A6 would at least move up to 265HP. . . But here is the point that seems to be the most challenging for the dealer here in the US: The 1. wheelbase and 2. width and 3. content and 4. performance of the new A4 are: 1. about the same 2. close enough for most folks to not care 3. favor ...
