Love this luxury car! Then I find out that there are all sorts of water problems associated with these and most other VWs and Audis. Of course this happens after warranty, not that the warranty would cover it any way. What a horrible issue! Thousands of dollars in repairs when all I needed when purchased was to be told about "cleaning drains?" Have now read hundreds of people having same issues. Why won't they admit that German Engineering can have defects, too? I guess that's why the rich get richer. Audi fans (which I was one of) claims they're not even broken in until 100,000 miles! You can't get there! I'm at 76,000 miles and the car is ruined. Don't let your Audi get rained on.
Favorite Features
Bose system, hugs those curves
Suggested Improvements
Admit to and fix these water drainage problems. It just simply is not fair to buy such an expensive car to have it ruined because of rain! Disgrace!
Worst Car I've EVER Owned
Vehicle
2003 Audi A6 3.0 quattro AWD 4dr Sedan (3.0L 6cyl 5A)
Review
I purchased my 03 A6 3.0 certified pre-owned with just over 36k miles. It has been without question the worst car I've ever owned. 3x stranded roadside and counting. Numerous major repair items not covered by warranty. V-belt failed 15,000 miles before scheduled to be replaced, caused auto tensioner to seize and break ($2,500) not covered by warranty. Motor mounts failed ($600) not covered. Carbon deposits in throttle body cause SEVERE vibration. (proposed repair well over 2) Fake wood dashboard pieces have popped off and will not stay on. I follow maintenance schedule to a T including $80 full synthetic oil changes, engine idles like an old pickup 2,500 miles into a 10k mile oil change.
Favorite Features
Forced to pick something I will admit it has a good stereo. The ride in the first 15,000 miles of purchasing new tires is also nice. After 15k on tires you might as well be driving an old Gremlin or a pick-up truck.
Suggested Improvements
1) Honor your warranty, don't sell people a cpo warranty and hide behind the fine print when something happens. 2) Live up to your reputation as building cars on par with Mercedes. I've owned a Mercedes E class, my A6 isn't anywhere close. Its closer to a old Chevy than a Mercedes Benz.
Leased Audi

Review
I purchased this from a dealer. It was a 3 year lease vehicle w/2 year warranty. It is by far the nicest vehicle I have owned & driven among 14 owned and more than I can count driven. It has good acceleration and reasonable handling. Quattro is great in the snow. Interior is first rate. Some items not well thought out, like cup holders. I get just under 20 MPG. Overall it is fun to drive and I look forward to driving it. The reliability is poor. Like some others, I know the dealer's service people on a first- name basis. The dealership has been great, but don't want the inconvenience of visiting. I have had electrical problems; window problems; emission problems and wheel balance issues.
Favorite Features
Overall interior comfort and appearance. Bose stereo. Xenon headlights. Turbo engine is smooth and still pulls strong on acceleration at 75 MPH. Roomy back seat.
Suggested Improvements
Overall reliability. Get rid of headlight washers. Add daytime running lights and auto shut off headlight feature.

Buyer Beware

2003 Audi A6 4.2 quattro AWD 4dr Sedan (4.2L 8cyl 5A)
Review
Based on the reputation of how the German cars drive I crossed the line from Japanese and bought this car. It was the worst decision I ever made. At 70K miles everything falls apart. I have a huge oil spot on my garage floor from oil leaking, the airbag light stays on constantly because the device is defective (only $1,400 to replace it), then the transmission celanoid went out and cost me $1,800. DO NOT BUY A USED AUDI. I am sure these are great cars when they roll off the showroom floor because they are covered under warranty. I WOULD NOT BUY AN AUDI UNLESS IT IS COVERED UNDER WARRANTY. These cars are fun to drive, but they are not reliable and cost a fortune to repair.
Favorite Features
Quattro 4 wheel drive is amazing. These cars hug the road and are very fast.
Suggested Improvements
Make the cars so the parts/components last. These cars are over-engineered and therefore have too many points of failure.
