2001 Audi A6 2.7T Quattro AWD 4dr Sedan (2.7L 6cyl Turbo 5A)
I think my father summed up this car perfectly when he said this car is great... up until 80k miles.
Yes, the car has exceptional awd power, fun in the winter along with luxury styling.
However the designing of this car is terrible and don't let anyone ever tell you otherwise.
When my 2.7t's alternator went out it took an entire day to replace.
You have to take the front end off just to locate.
It's ridiculous!!! the 2.7t is designed to have an extended stay at the mechanic.
Over 100 sensors will cause the CEL to appear.
In summary, this car is like someone else's pet; its fun to play with, it will make laugh at times but i rather not want to keep it.
Six speed AWD.
Small Bi turbos allow for quick boost.
you can tell the quality of the a6 by 100k. either it has problems or it will run forever. access of all audi engines are tight and require removing the front bumper. these are not economy cars, if you are penny pinching look elsewhere, however the ride performance and safety are amazing.
I love my 2001 Audi A6 2.7T Quattro AWD 4dr Sedan and i have loved it for the past 9 years i drive it every day and i am hard on her!! She is chipped running 20+PSI boost and i drop gears all day i have changed the timing belt water pump etc etc etc do it all when you in there lol 3 times now but the one time i did not pull the front end off was to change the alternator 1 jack 2 jack stands a few tools and yes the good old North-East cold in MA, helped me do this fast in December and yes that was this past year 12/7/2014 i did this.. she my Audi did have just over 90K on her when i gut her and now she is rocking 298K and runs lake a top i have never put her in a shop for any work i do it all my self.. i do have to say i love my 6 speed and she has shown me love with 200k+ in return.. O and get this i payed Les than 3k for it ROFL have to love a nice clean trad-in at a Ferrari dealership they did not wont anything to do with it. And no its not a base model it was top of the line has every op you can get Bose audio ect ect missing 1 op the heated steering weal that's the 1 op its missing not bad $3k for a $49k car that was just 5 years old and one owner.. So with all that info i payed 3k and have had it 9 years + $4 i put in to it over 9 year i have a tootle of $7k in to her so $778 a year to keep her tiptop in this harsh New England weather with all this road salt is not bad in my book PS: I do not count the chip, KO4 turbos piping etc etc as repair work as it was not needed. It makes the car more fun to drive and that is one thing you can never put a price on
