Great car to drive
Vehicle
1996 Audi A6 4 Dr Quattro 4WD Sedan
Review
Great highway car. It is really easy to drive and feel comfortable even at higher speeds. I've owned since new and have a hard time finding cars I like driving better. Reliability has been only average. Torque sweet spot is very narrow at 3000rpm. Transmission is dumb so power is not delivered often when it should. Fwy entrances can be stressful because at just that speed ~50mph, it wants to upshift and forfeit all torque right when you need it. At speed ~65mph, fwy accel is very good.
Favorite Features
Seat comfort is excellent esp. for tall people. I'm 6'3". Very agile and easy to handle. It *loves* going up curvy roads in hills. It handles like a very light nimble car despite its size/weight. It feels very stable and secure on fwy even up to 90mph.
Suggested Improvements
Pinch prevention in windows needs refinement. Normal drag is enough to cause windows to reverse direction. So if you try to roll up in rain, half the time it will roll all the way down instead. Annoying!
I love my AWD A6 Wagon

Review
My first Audi was a 1987 Audi Coupe manual transmission and I loved it for 7 years when I sold it. I bought the 1996 Audi in 2000 with 48k miles on it and have had a great experience with it. The cars loves the snow and can get me anywhere in any kind of weather. I can pack all my family of 6 in the car easily with the help of the back-facing rear seat. The car is very peppy and very fun to drive. The interior design is beautiful with its red lighted gauges. The only trouble we had was with the Audi CD player that didn't survive long after we had it installed by Audi. Enjoy the ride!

Confidence of a Tank
Vehicle
1996 Audi A6 4 Dr Quattro 4WD Sedan
Review
Bought this car from original owner with 89,500 miles on the odometer. So far all I have done to it in the past 10,000 miles is change the oil once, and change the timing belt.(Recommended every 90,000 miles.) So far car has averaged as much as 26 mpg highway - and as low as 16 mpg city. Very pleased with quattro drive in all types of weather. Would recommend.

Quattro AWD. Bose Radio. Comfortable seats...
Suggested Improvements
Better fuel mileage in city. A little more power wouldn't hurt.

A real runner
Vehicle
1996 Audi A6 4 Dr Quattro 4WD Sedan
Review
Purchased this car with 96,000 miles. Now with nearly 225,000 it still runs very dependably, handles mountain roads daily, and produces not a single rattle nor squeak anywhere in this car. Yes, it is getting long in the tooth and some shocks were repalced as well as a transmission seal and a few interior switches have broken but the engine has been flawless. It drives comfortably, firmly & with authority on mountain roads. Climate control system is needing work; again electricals. I spend 6-10 hours a day in the car as it serves as my office. I got a good one!
Favorite Features
AWD, never buy a car without it again. Speaker system is awsome, but radio offers very poor reception. Brakes very well; turning radius is tight & handy; driving position is excellent & variable
Suggested Improvements
Better antenna system for radio Better visibility when backing up Full size spare
