  Jim, thanks for the post, you just described my car exactly. I have a 2011 A4 Prestige S-Line. 18k miles and I have a noise on the driver side at noral speeds (hummming sound starts at 40mph), car sounds like a dump truck starting, and tranny has the exact same issue. Please let us know what you find out.

  I turned in my 2009 A4 2.0 with just under 55,000 miles on it --................... Also it used a quart of oil every 2,000 miles, which seemed excessive, although the dealer told me there was a TSB on it that essentially cured that issue. Nupe....my 2011 A4 goes through a quart of oil 1500-2000 mi. apart, changed at Audi's expense (one of the times I'm happy it's leased).

  I bought a 2011 Audi A4 - Pre Certified. Has about 3.5 yrs of factory warranty left, plus the extended warranty. The model is Premium Plus with nav, b&o, wood trim. It has about 9,000 miles on it.
