I been talking to the sales guy at Audi about getting a 2014 A4 Allroad Prem Plus, the car they wants to sell me has the following options: B&O Audio, Audi Connect, ipod cable, PNY MMI nav system and Prem Plus Package, and free Audi Maint Care... They said my current 2009 A4 Q Prem Plus Sedan with 40k miles on it is worth $17,000.00 in near perfect condition, seems low? ... Read More
I don't want to start an argument, although I am not against arguing, if that makes any sense. But I was struck by the statements that things are becoming obsolete (perhaps the implication was "on purpose") every 30 months or so. Let me provide some perspective that made me read the "30 months" statement and cock my head and have a cartoon balloon with a question mark in it appear overhead. ... Read More
I've now spent a bit of time "initializing" the S4's MMI system parameters -- including Audi Connect (free for 6-months). In terms of ease of use, the MMI user interface remains super easy, one could argue it is almost intuitive. What I do notice, this time, in comparison to my 2009 A4 Prestige, is that there seems to be more that can be configured via the MMI. I had to chuckle ... Read More

At the risk of raising the ire of the moderator, I am wondering, not critically, why you wouldn't use BSW? To underscore the point, I would assume you don't stick your arm out the window to indicate you are turning -- you flick the turn signal stalk, yes? My first experience with BSW was accidental -- I ordered a new Audi A4 in 2008 with what was then the just announced ... Read More
Our 2011 FX35 is coming off lease -- and Infiniti has already tried to lure my wife into another Infiniti with an "early out" or "pull ahead" deal (you know where at least 3 months of the lease is forgiven, plus any miles over are wiped off the books.) In the time frame where we switched from German to Japanese, the primary motivation was the super sub-vented lease deals offered by ... Read More

Priced MUCH HIGHER? I would think if, to use made up but approximate numbers, that an Audi A4 or BMW 3 (something) can be "nicely contented," which I suspect means, these days, Premium Package, Premium Paint (and Infiniti doesn't, currently, charge for any color they offer), Nav Package, and Sport Package or Technology Package (but not both) for something between $45K and $49K -- depending on the "either or" packages and ... I had the work done on my 2009 A4 Avant 2.0T. It would go from max to min on the electronic oil level indicator in 1,000 - 1,200 miles, which is about a quart of oil. While I agree that for the price of a TL SH-AWD Advance you could get a BASE Audi S4, the S4 requires over $11,000 of options to get to parity with respect to "content." The TL SH-AWD Advance with the a la carte addition of back-up sensors and splash gaurds is north of $47 or $48K depending on how many a la carte do-dads (which are nice) you check off. The ... Thanks for the tip about the oil consumption test. My 2011 A4 has 19500 miles on it and I had the 15k service done at the dealer. Interesting. I guess my story is a little different, maybe not as narrative but here it goes.... 2009 Audi A4 Quattro Prestige. My car's oil light would come on every 2000 miles or so. I turned in my 2009 A4 2.0 with just under 55,000 miles on it --................... Nupe....my 2011 A4 goes through a quart of oil 1500-2000 mi. apart, changed at Audi's expense (one of the times I'm happy it's leased).
I couldn't even begin to answer your question. Historically, Volvo's live very long lives -- and are expensive to maintain and repair like their German cousin's. Today, I would EXPECT, any car (virtually any) to make it to 150,000 miles with normal maintenance and a few repairs. Now then, the issue is what is the definition of normal maintenance? I really don't want to spoil you joy with the new car but unfortunately the infamous check engine light, particularly right after you drive a brand new car from the lot is not a good indicator of what's ahead of you .... I had very similar experience to yours. Yes, the dealer fixes the check engine light free when car is under warranty...the warranty will eventually run out unless you purchased ... Read More
I recently bought a brand new Audi A4. I know absolutely nothing about cars, but it was cute and Edmunds appeared to have rated it highly in reviews. The day after I bought it, I had to take it back to the dealer for a check engine light. They said it was the fuel sensor and replaced it. 2 weeks later, I got another check engine light. They cleared the fault ... Read More
Have been shopping around for a new used car and it's down to two choices: first is a 2009 Audi A4 3.2L quattro with 19K miles, can get it for $25K with my trade in of 2000 Audi A4 2.8. Car was a loaner for the Audi dealership, excellent shape, fun to drive and noticeably larger than any other A4 I've driven. Original warranty in effect until August 2013. The other ... Read More
Thanks for the info and opinion. I'm a bit concerned about the oil sludge problems that the turbos have had in the past. I had a 2004 A4 turbo and at 30K had to have the engine replaced due to oil sludge, still under warranty thankfully. Has Audi corrected the problem? If so, would consider the 2.0T. I did test drive one and it was very nice, quieter than the earlier ... Read More
Anyone that defends a quart of oil in 1200 miles clearly knows nothing about automobiles! That figure is hardly acceptable in an old Buick much less a 2009 $40,000+ Audi a4. Have 8+ experience driving Audis and w/o the extended warranty-the car would have bankrupted me. Bought a brand new audi a6 2.7t in 2000 and as the car aged-the dealer became harder to deal with in fixing this car. Eventually ... Read More
That is not true everywhere. Where I live, the dealer will discount 3% off list only. You want any more, he won't sell you a car. Kind of bull-headed, but it seems to work for him. He still has a brand new 2009 A4 that he has discounted a bit more than that, but he would rather hold onto it, and maybe eventually lease it to someone, than cut his prices. ... Read More
Re: the acceleration, I think it is called salesman ignorance, not BS Regarding the turbolag in the A4, I think it is not the AWD but is the lousy CVT Audi puts in the FWD A4. The CVT improves gas mileage but acceleration suffers. (I liked the CVT in the Maxima.) I test drove several 2010 A4s with and without the CVT and there is a huge difference between the CVT ... I am the unhappy owner of a 2009 A4, 2.0 engine. Bottom line, Audi mechanically is a piece of crap. BTW, this is my second ( and last) Audi. My 2006 Audi A4 never had the issues I have experienced in approximtely 15000 miles of driving the 2009 A4, 2.0 liter. Since picking up new, the car has consumed one quarter of oit every 1200 miles. This Audi of America advises ... Read More
Current list of vehicles for this thread include: BMW 3 Series, Infiniti G35, Acura TL, Lexus IS 350, Mercedes-Benz C-Class, Cadillac CTS, Lexus IS 250, Audi A4, Acura TSX. The G35 has been replaced with G37 since 2009 model year. Now that G25 is unveiled and, given the fact that both IS350/250, 328/335, and TL/TSX are on the list, both G37 and G25 should also be added. Thanks in advance.

i think automobile mag as a joke in declaring the TL a close auto to the S4 -sure you can save $$ but its not the same performer-- please look at every other credible magazine before making the TL out to be a winner- here are a few links to check out http://www.insideline.com/infiniti/g37/2009/comparison-test-2009-acura-tl-sh-awd- -vs-2009-infiniti-g37-journey.html here it just on par with the VWCC http://www.roadandtrack.com/tests/comparison/2009-acura-tl-sh-awd-vs.-2009-volks- wagen-cc-3.6l-4motion/page_4_-_2009_acura_tl_sh-awd_vs._2009_volkswagen_cc_3.6l_- 4motion_page_4 and here it gets beat by ... I recently purchased a 2010 A4, Premium Plus and disappointed with the trunk size. I found out that it only has 12 cubic feet of space, when I thought that it is 16.9 or 17.0 cubic feet from Edmunds review (and other sites as well) of the exact model itself. Does anyone know anything that I dont? Maybe the 17.0 cubic feet is only for 2009? I am curious to see ... Read More
Would never work in the car business. I always like new when you are spending 38k. If you like the the 09 get what you want and have fun. :)
We test drove a 2010 A4, liked everything about it but the back end, it has exhausts only on one side, looks like a Corolla. I prefer exhausts on either side, looks more sporty. That's one big thing I can't overlook plus this 09 is Audi certified means warranty upto 100k miles or 6 years, so won't worry about putting too many miles on it, you know what I eman. What do ... Read More
You can get a brand new A4 quattro premium for less than that 09. With euro cars buy new even if it has less equipment. The less electonic gizmos the better. They ride and handle pretty similar. You should be able to bet a new prem plus msrp 38k for about 36k. The premium would be about 2k less. Go new and save.
It is quattro and they have it listed for 41K, don't know msrp as this model (3.2L) isn't available for 2010. If I remember right, it should be close to 44k or more in msrp.
What was the original msrp on the car and is it quattro?
I am looking at a 2009 Audi A4 with 3.2L and premium plus package. It has 4000 miles and is Audi certified. I am in Portland, Oregon and the dealer gave me a final price of 38,000. What do you guys think of this price? What should I offer or pay for this car? The good thing is audi certification and very low miles, but I didn't like 17 inch wheels/tires, ... Read More
Wife has 2007 A4 3.2. I have 2009 A4 2.0 sports package. No trouble with either. Audi has improved quality and reliability surpassing BMW. Read blogs on audiworld or audizine. B8 A4 is much roomier and better trunk than BMW 3 series. Better looking too in P+ level with LEDs IMHO.
Thank you for your direct and detailed reply to my questions. The fact that you're not associated with the auto industry, other than as a consumer, and that you clearly acknowledge your general preference for Audis, gives your answers extra credibility. Yeah, I remember the Fox and the 5000. Both were really well designed, appealing cars in their day. I chose to by a '78 Pontiac LeMans, with the Chevy 305 ... Read More
I own a software company -- never have worked for any car company.
