I couldn't even begin to answer your question. Historically, Volvo's live very long lives -- and are expensive to maintain and repair like their German cousin's. Today, I would EXPECT, any car (virtually any) to make it to 150,000 miles with normal maintenance and a few repairs. Now then, the issue is what is the definition of normal maintenance? My wife's last BMW (a 2008) could only have an oil change ... Read More

I picked up a CPO 2008 Audi A4 about six months ago. It was a lease return with all maintenance done by the dealer who was selling it. 38,000 miles. I paid about $21,000. I've put about 8,000 miles on it with no significant problems other than high oil consumption. Took it in for what I expected would be routine service. Buying used is a crapshoot. I bought my 2007 A4 "brand new" in July 2008 - the car had a lot of options, pushing it's price up, plus it was a "manual" and therefore "less desirable" (haha, not for me, the exact opposite was true!). So, I got a great deal on the car. Nearly 49000 miles later, here is the full list of what has gone wrong with the car: ... Read More

Hi. Were you able to figure out the loud engine noise? I just bought a 2008 a4 2.0t, and i notice the same thing. Engine revs very loudly at low speeds (~30-40mph) and then quiet's down substantially past that threshold. I really don't think it's a "problem" per say, but certainly not what I was expecting, and can be very annoying at times - especially when driving on local roads!!
