This is an interest post. I too was an Infinity owner for many years, and in fact I owned and later sold 3 of them to my kids after driving each for 3-5 years. They all still own them and have had no significant repair costs! (now at 150 to 300K miles!) I always admired the Audi A-4 and in 2006 after I moved to snowy SW Michigan I leased a ... Read More
I love the illustrations but they prove little but you did point out that acura/honda did have a good past stable of sports cars but as you know the nsx hasnt been produced since 2005 the s2000 was 09... now given the fact that those 2 cars were rwd and were light weight and were great handlers - something the TL and TSX are not. - Is the A4 a sports ... I have a 2006 A4 Cabriolet with slightly less than 25,000 miles on it since new. At a recent oil and filter change my Audi dealer indicated I should consider having my rear brake pads changed. Their estimates of pad thickness were: fronts 10mm, rears 3mm. I have never had a car where the rear pads wore out before the fronts. This car is driven 'calmly/gently' by primarily my wife and ... I had an A4 -2006, it was a beatiful car, handled real nice. It was a turbo Quatro and it was very fast and responsive. If your going that route be sure to either provide the large oil filter specified for that car or ensure they use the right one. There are smaller filters that will fit but that engine needs the large filter for capacity and cooling. Without the proper oil filter and the synthetic oil it a pretty sure bet that sludge will form in your engine.
Thanks. With my A4 coming off warranty service soon I figure I'll get my oil changes outside the Audi dealership. The local Goodyear dealer said they don't do the synthetic oil changes, but they will do it for me if I supply them with the synthetic oil.
Oils should meet a VW spec in the 504 or something like that range. It has changed over the years but if you look at a label on Mobil 1 0W-40 you'll see it. It is a great car to drive. However, you must accept the inconvenience of carrying a quart of oil in your trunk, check the oil level at every time you refill your tank and use roughly a quart of oil every 1200 miles (Audi's level of acceptable oil usage). What year A4 cab? The 2005/2006 came with a 1.8T and a CVT in a car weighing an astounding 3600 lbs while only offering 170 hp/166 hp. The 3.0 with 220 hp/220 ft-lbs jumps to 4000 lbs. Comparing the a4 cab to the IS250 is sorta misleading and not representative of comparing an IS250 to an A3.

Hi Del7 I had a 2003 A4 with memory seats, etc and Audi has not updated the system in later models (these forums show similar issues). The key fob never worked right. I did not leave my keys in the car but many times the key fob would not recognize the car, hence, not unlock or lock it. Being I had memory seat options often the seats would move into position ... I purchased a 2006 Audi A4 quatro July 2006. Less than 1,000 miles it left me stranded at the Smokey Mountains. The car was flat bedded to Kentucky Audi who determined the starter had to be replaced. Needless to say, it ruined my vacation. Subsequent to the Smokey’s fiasco, the car has been making a loud noise at the top of cold starts. After a couple of trips to the dealer ... Read More
Okay, so let me get this straight, you want to buy the "best" oil for your car but not the "best" fuel. Correct? I'll tackle the oil issue first. Short answer: Use Mobil 1 0W-40 or Castrol Syntec 0W-30. That said, instead of regurgitating what has already been written; please take a peek at the following two discussion threads. They should answer any oil related questions you have, and if they ... Read More
Relative to other near-luxury brands, Audis have terrible resale value. I have owned two and loved both, but got killed at trade-in time. If I were to buy another Audi, it would be through a subvented lease or as a CPO. If I were looking for an A4 Cab today, it would be a 2006 CPO (lower price, great warranty and free maintenance still included).
I have recently been looking for a 2006 Certified Pre-Owned Audi A4 2.0T Quattro (Auto.) Sedan from a dealer. What do you think would be a good price for such a model with the Premium package with around 12,000 miles on it? I am pitching for around 26K + TT&L for the above configuration for 2006 CPO. The dealer is also providing me 5.9% APR financing and other standard Audi CPO ... Read More
kdshapiro, " ... I prefer AWD with the associated compromises in handling" For me and my own personal priorities, AWD is a requirement, not just a preference. About 4 years ago, when I bought my first ELLPS, and had AWD as a requirement, I only considered two choices, an Audi A4 quatro and a BMW 3 series Xi model. I did not like the interior of the G35x at all (new ... Read More
Hi a4fan. The problem with leasing pre-owned vehicles is that manufacturers usually do not provide as much support on them as they do on new vehicle leases. There is a good chance that you will find that it is actually less expensive to lease s similar brand new 2007 Audi A4 than it is to lease a certified pre-owned one. If you are set on leasing, make sure to compare the ... Read More
About to buy a 2006 A4, new, but obviously been sitting on the lot for a while - 6 months or so. I'm already worried about the bad reputation of Audis for reliability, and I will probably exhaust the warranty miles within 2-3 years. Could sitting on the lot for that long increase the odds of problems? Also, how is the stock Symphony II (non-bose) sound system?
My wife drives a 2006 S60 AWD 2.5T and I have a 2006 A4 2.0T quattro auto. I'm not sure how they market these cars (as in suggesting they should compete with one another), but they are markedly different from one another. I agree with the comment made some time back about the S60 turning radius - horrible. But I would not drive past the Volvo dealer just because of that ... Read More
Here in UK, and doubtless Europe, Audi offer two towbars for the A4 & Avant. A "fixed" version and a "removable" one. If you go to this site, then click on A4 then Accessories and scroll down to "Towing" you'll find them. As Audi market these themselves I cannot understand why a USA dealer would say no-go. Point him at the official Audi site and stand back. However, malking your own ... Read More
The clutch of my 2006 Audi A4 went out after just about 5000 miles of use. Audi ruled the problem due to abuse and I was forced to pay $1400 to replace it. Has anyone had a similar problem and know how to refute Audi's desicion?
Hi firstlease. Since you are new to the world of leasing, you definitely should check out the following informative articles that are available here at Edmunds.com prior to visiting any dealers: 10 Steps to Leasing a New Car and Calculate Your Own Lease Payment. Let's take a look at the specific deal that you were offered. You were quoted a selling price $28,450 (with the $575 acquisition fee backed out) for ... Read More
Hi TMK. Audi's special lease program is only available on the 2007 A4. It is no longer providing lease support on 2006 models. A couple of months ago it replaced its lease support on '06s with dealer cash. If you want to lease an A4 you would be much better off going with a 2007 model right now. Does anyone know whether Audi Financial's current (excellent) 24 month lease deal can be used to lease a new 2006 A4 2.0T (either really "new" or an untitled demo with a couple thousand miles on it)? Also, same question as it relates to the lease numbers that might be applicable to a 2006 A4 Cab (with the 1.8L Turbo and CVT). I assume the answer, based on Car_man's post from the ... Read More
Hi Car Man, You've helped me in the past with a few Buick Rendezvous leases -- and I learned quite a bit in the process. I just leased a 2007 A4 24mo/15K -- I know I got a great deal -- because I got the A4 at dealer invoice (well, if you include the $300 Audi dealer ad fee and the $195 port prep fee that they supposedly have to pay). ...
