Hey, I've been in the other forum for Maint and Repairs. Just saw this thread here. My 4th coil pack in ten months failed yesterday; took my Audi in today (A4 2005 1.8 Quattro). Yes, I was told there is a recall pending for my Audi. And they have an "exception" to do the fix in advance if people come in w/ failed coils. So, allegedly, they replaced all my suspect coils ... I got an estimate from my dealership for extended warranty (the Platinum) and the quote is as follows: 24,000 miles - $2,100 36,000 miles - $2,800 48,000 miles - $3,800 I have a 2005.5 A4 3.2Q with 57K miles and wondering if it will be money well spent to get extended warranty. You guys were right. I didn't want to risk DIY and making thing worse. I stopped by the dealership this morning and made my plea, but according to their records, it wasn't the same window that they repaired. But they did offer a good faith repair. I bought my 2004 Audi a4 1.8T silver/black for $17300. I don't know how I got that price.. I was in the Volkswagen/Audi dealership looking for a 2007 passat and the Audi was sitting right in front on sale for 18500. I offered 16500 cash and we met at 17300. I bought used. I've had some issues in the 9 months I've owned her. (2005 A4 Quattrro 1.8) Mostly the infamous coil packs discussed thoroughly on this board.
