2005 Audi A4 1.8T Fwd 2dr Cabriolet (1.8L 4cyl Turbo CVT)
Review
Absolute fun to drive! Room for 4 adults. Simple, clean trim. Sport package is a must. A bit underpowered at lower speeds, but the fun factor easily compensates for power issues.
Favorite Features
The quick drop convertible with heated seats! Pure comfort! We just subscribed to Sirius radio (optional with Bose stereo package) and it is awesome!
Suggested Improvements
A few small issues: poor visibility out the rear window when backing up, the turbo is a bit "whiney" when reving up, and the frame feels a bit wobbly at some speeds.
2004.5 Ultrasport better than a Benz!

2005 Audi A4 1.8T quattro AWD 4dr Sedan (1.8L 4cyl Turbo 6M)
Review
When I first saw the Silver 2004.5 Audi A4 with the Ultrasport package, I said to myself, I got to have it!! So, I sold my 1994 Mercedes Benz CLK320 and got bought one of the first A4 Ultrasport in the SF Bay area. I love the exterior look (especially after Audi FINALLY decided to paint the lower body panels) and the interior quality. The ride is a little stiff and the power could be more. But, nothing that couldn't be fixed with lowering the tire pressure and chipping the ECU (i.e. reprogramming the engine computer for more turbo boost). I got the APR Direct-port programming for 209hp and 236lb-ft torque!! Summary: After chipping, the car is perfect!
Favorite Features
Ultrasport package, precise shifter, solid construction inside and out, Ultrasport, Ultrasport, Ultrasport (yes, the package is worth the extra $$)
Suggested Improvements
Increase horsepower (fixed by APR chip), kinda hard getting in and out of car because of the large distance between the seat and door, nothing else.
A4 Avant

2005 Audi A4 1.8T Avant quattro AWD 4dr Wagon (1.8L 4cyl Turbo 6M)
Review
Bought to replace 1998 A4 1.8TQMS. New car has premium, sport, cold, Bose pkgs. New avant is slightly quicker, has better highway mileage, but the same city mileage as my previous car. It is very comfortable on long drives. The XM radio is fabulous! It feels somewhat larger than the old car and as a result it doesn't handle quite as well. That may be due to the all season tires rather than a proper summer sport tire. The ride is firm without being harsh. Its throttle action is slightly jerky when released suddenly under hard acceleration. There is no real turbo lag, but the turbo builds power early and holds it through the rev range. There is more leg room in the back seat than my previous car had, but it still has less than my wife's Passat.
Favorite Features
Quality of materials, Avant body style, good mileage, quattro, leather finally available in 1.8T, night interior lighting, XM radio, driving experience (fun to drive), heated leather seats on cold evenings (mmm...)
Suggested Improvements
More room in back seat, heated rear seats in cold pkg, bring back cactus green. 2.0 T engine in old body style. New car looks like a Subaru, and there are too many of those here already! Put sport seats back in the sport package. Regular seats are OK, but you have to hold on in corners.

After test driving BMW, Saab, and Audi, I opted for the Audi. The BMW was simple too expensive and Saab interior was bland. The audi has the perfect combo of exterior beauty and interior luxury. Love it :)
Favorite Features
heated seats, power top, XM radio.

I test drove A4, TSX, S40 & 3-Series. TSX is cheap and slow...peices coming off demo. S40 is fast, but unrefined and noisy at speed. The 3-Series is OVERPRICED. My A4 is a 1.8t 5-Speed w/ BOSE, Premium Package & Sports Package. The interior is outstanding compared to everything else. The engine w/out Quattro makes the car REALLY fun to drive & fast. I also have averaged 33.5MPG...outstanding! Overall I love my new car. I am very happy I didn't get anything else I drove. The A4 is fun, reliable (I had a '99 A4 before & no problems over 6 years)and the insurance was the lowest..wow. You can't go wrong if you are looking at the A4.
Favorite Features
Manual trasmission is so much fun! BOSE audio is amazing! 6-disc in-dash CD player is very cool! Sports package give my A4 the feel of a true sports sedan.
Suggested Improvements
Make dual powerseats standard. Xenon headlamps option is too expensive at $900. S40 had standard backseat head airbags Otherwise the car is PERFECT!

My objective was to balance these factors with my car purchase: taxi the kids to/from school, soccer, etc., good fuel economy, ability to transport bike inside, carry dogs, reasonable price, and last but not least, FUN. This car so far meets all these criteria. Like most reviews, I too want a bit more hp, but I plan to upgrade the ECU...should do the trick. This is one of the most intelligently engineered cars I've seen, and coming from 3 years of my Volvo s60, that's saying alot. Electronically, Audi has put so much thought into providing features that make the car more useful in every day driving. Ride is ridiculous...very tight and controlled yet comfy. 6 speed manual is great
Favorite Features
Engineering: from spacious cargo to asthetically pleasing dashboard electronics. Sat radio.
Suggested Improvements
...not going to complain about the cupholders...not a big deal for me. I do wish the back seats had their own AC vents. More bolstering in front seats. Sun roof makes strong reverb noise when fully opened....needs redesign.

2005 Audi A4 1.8T Fwd 2dr Cabriolet (1.8L 4cyl Turbo CVT)
Review
We traded an Audi for a Mercedes and kept it 10 years but we had to go back to Audi as it was the best automobile that we had ever owned. The dealer is top notch, the new car is even better.
Favorite Features
The overall performance and gas mileage is everything we expected and then some. This vehicle hardly knows what a gasoline station looks like. The quoted mileage was right on target.
Suggested Improvements
We are going to have a cargo net mounted in the trunk as it gets used a great deal and one did not come with our model. Other than that, we have found nothing to complain about and are extremely happy with the automobile.
A4 1.8t 5-Speed M W/ Ultra-Sports Pack.
Vehicle
2005 Audi A4 1.8T Fwd 4dr Sedan (1.8L 4cyl Turbo 5M)
Review
This car delivers with the Ultra-Sports package. The 170hp engine has just enough power. I had a '99 A4 before this and it had 150hp and the 20 hp, especially with the manual, is noticeably more powerful. I had 16 inch wheels with a sports package on my old A4 and this new A4 with the Ultra- Sports package rides a lot better than my old A4 ever did, and my new one has 18 inch wheels with 40 series tires!!!! Great job on the suspension guys! I just love this car. Yeah, it could use the Acura TSX's engine, but I have enough fun in my A4 without getting arrested. I highly recommend an Audi. They get a bad rap on reliability. I had my '99 6 years and 100k miles. I had no major problems.
Favorite Features
1)Ultra-Sports Package. It makes a normal A4 look better than an S4. 2)Xenon Headlamps. I love how they light up the road at night 3)Manual Transmission 4)Build Quality is unreal good. 5) Price: $32,460 list. Got it for a little over $30k 6)Ride quality is awsome even with 18- inch wheels.
Suggested Improvements
1) More horsepower on the base engine, but Audi is releasing a new 2.0 liter 4 later this year that will have 194hp and 208 ft lbs of torque.
The 2005 Is A Mess & I've Had Two!

This car is a piece of @#&*! I've had two 2005s. The first one made a noise so bad people in the lane next to me remarked. The dealer, no help from Audi, gave me a new one for another $1,500 bucks. The new one had the check engine light appear under 300 miles. The shop had it for 5 days, delivered it and the engine light appeared again. My service shop has put more miles on the car delivering it to me then I've put on the car driving it. Under 500 miles and it's going back tomorrow. This is a new identical car. The first one was a turbo, transmission, electrical mess. Audi refuses to stand behind their auto. Maybe your dealer will as good as mine and help you. Buy at your own risk.

Car delivered last week. What an wonderful car!! Makes my old Sebring seem like a bucket of bolts. Great styling, ride, comfort, and lots of compliments and looks from everyone. Audi promised alot and delivers even more. This car truely makes you want to get up in the morning and go for a drive. If you are looking for a class car and don't want to be just another Joe in a Beamer or Benz...this is the car for you. I even got praise from my father-in-law who is the world's biggest car critic! Lt. Silver metalic with black interior is a real head turner. V6 delivers exceptional power across all ranges. Lot's of toys and comfort features. The interior quality is to die for!
Favorite Features
Transmission is silky smooth and delivers unbeivable power. XM Radio is a real joy. 17" wheels deliver a smooth and quite ride. Full Power Top with wind screen make this an exception drop top.I really don't understand all the negative press about the cup holders. Guess I'm just having too much fun!
Suggested Improvements
Service plan should cover more that one oil change every 10K miles? Homelink should work without key in ignition switch. Rework center ski rack insert in back seat so that it would fold down to make an arm rest. Head rest on back seat block visibility through rear window and should be lower.
