Brief (for me) Update
Written by: markcincinnati on May 9, 2012 2:25:44 PM
I have now reached 15,000 miles on my 2012 Acura TL Advance SH-AWD. I have had two oil changes and at the second change the SH-AWD "fluid" was changed (very expensive.) The tires have been rotated twice. I keep the tires cold inflated to: front 37, rear 35. I decided to stick with the somewhat crappy OEM tires that came with the car, since they are all-season UHP's and I wanted ... Read More

I couldn't even begin to answer your question. Historically, Volvo's live very long lives -- and are expensive to maintain and repair like their German cousin's. Today, I would EXPECT, any car (virtually any) to make it to 150,000 miles with normal maintenance and a few repairs. Now then, the issue is what is the definition of normal maintenance? My wife's last BMW (a 2008) could only have an oil change ... Read More

I had -- my wife had -- a couple of those slightly smaller A4's back in the late 90's, with the, at the time V6 and stick shift (and with the $500 sport package), these were very nice cars; and actually very reliable as I recall. But, those were the days when we were in and out of a car in about 45,000 miles, so even for a German car it ... Read More

Yes, I have the 2005+ 4 cylinder A4 convertible, and I have no regrets with my purchase. Mine has about 69,000 miles. I was glad that my original warranty lasted 50,000 miles (I think that was the figure) since I needed some repairs and they were covered. I think Audi has more problem cars on the road than normal, but I seem to have bought one of the OK ones. I ... Read More

Eddie, I'm getting ready to purchase a 2005 A4 convertible with only 32k miles on it. It has been garage kept and is beautiful. Wondering if you are still pleased with yours and if you have had any problems? This forum does cause me some concern and I've never owned an import. I know, American only but have been blessed. Audi A4 Reliability

Thought I would share my experiences with my 2005 Audi A4 Cabriolet. Loved the looks of the car, and the Dolphin gray color with light leather interior was very sharp. Bought the car with just under 40,000 miles and it had been well cared for, with hardly a scratch on it, and a pristine interior with an engine compartment you could eat off of. It handled great and got excellent gas ... Read More

You may want to check out two prior threads related to problems when filling up your gas tank. Could be that your problem was related to gas pressure in the tank causing the nozzle to shut off prematurely. It appears that there is a spring acuated shut off in the filler neck that will cause this problem. Here are the items in the Message board: Message #1707 Re: Gas tank problems ... Read More

Hey cru: Sounds like a nice rig. You don't state which engine...2.0T or 3.2 V6? Quattro? I'm not real knowledgeable about newer Audis, but particularly with the turbo, I would not consider it unless the seller can verify that only VW/Audi- approved synthetic (Mobil 1 0w-40, etc.) has been used. Are you familiar with engine sludge? Check past Edmunds forum commentary on that. In fact, I would want ALL service records ... Read More

2005.5 A4 3.2 Avant - Advice?

I'm thinking of buying a used 2005.5 Audi with 64,500 miles. Price is right, but I'm wondering if there is anything that I should be aware of for this call. Anybody have any advice or experience with this model?

Did you resolve this? I have the same problem, the gas tank stops filling when only half full. Check engine light on. Audi dealer has replaced fuel canister, to no avail. Now says needs to replace fuel floations(?) for $600, and if that does not work the whole fuel tank. This is a 2005 , of course past warranty.

New Noise

Audi 2005 A4 Quattro. Engine makes a whirring / whining noise every now and then. Used to be way worse until I got a motor mount replaced. Still whirs / whines every now and then but let it go as normal Audi quirks. Also, brakes squeal a lil; but last time in was told I had enough left on the brakes to not warrant immediate action. Now, lo and behold, I ... Read More

You guys were right. I didn't want to risk DIY and making thing worse. I stopped by the dealership this morning and made my plea, but according to their records, it wasn't the same window that they repaired. But they did offer a good faith repair. The original cost to repair was close to $600, but they did it for $320 roughly. Plus, they gave me a free loaner for the ... Read More

New v Used

I bought used. I've had some issues in the 9 months I've owned her. (2005 A4 Quattrro 1.8) Mostly the infamous coil packs discussed thoroughly on this board. Also a motor mount and a small engine leak. And I blew the clutch. And while all is annoying, I bought an extended warranty and folded it into the loan. It's too bad the flywheel was bad but if it was rough or had cracks it could cause clutch chatter.

Yep that flywheel retails for $980 bucks plus another .2 of a hour to replace it. So all in all I think the guy was straight with you. Yes you could have skipped the flywheel perhaps, and put in a cheaper aftermarket clutch kit, and maybe the job would be 1800 bucks, but you know, this is not the kind of task you want to do twice. Seems high to me, but I don't know exactly what they are replacing. The clutch disc and pressure plate are about $500 retail, and labor is roughly 9.5 hours. So even by California labor rates, I would think $2000 bucks would more than cover this.

2005 Audi A4 Quattro Clutch

Used car. Bought in Jan. 50K miles. Had some work done, all covered under extended warranty. Blew out my clutch this wknd. Dealership svc is quoting me $2700.00. Parts, labor, etc. I have no choice, really, but have read the clutch history in this discussion. Is this amount reasonable in the Audi world? Thanks, Mike
