After driving a 1999 1.8T (I've been loyal to American car makers for too long) - I pulled it off the used market and decided to keep it after a month. I will never go back to US cars. With all the complaints on this forum regarding some experiences with reliability, it pales in comaprison. I traded the '99 in with 80k and the engine and tranny were in great shape. Now own a 2001 2.8 and am amazed at the improvement over the crisp performance of the 99 1.8T. It's styling is timeless and classic and IMO belongs with such classic designs as the 57 Chevy, 67 mustang, among others. This is a keeper. Buy Certified if used.

I bought my 2001 Audi 2.8 almost 1 year ago. It has been a great car. I took it in today because the check engine light came on (becuase the gas cap wasn't screwed back on correctly) Ahhh! Oil changes are about $85 which is a lot, but it's good for 6k miles. Everyone thinks I'm crazy for paying that much for an oil change, but that's how it is. I love having a powerful car. Brakes work great! Almost too well. All my friends love driving my car, it's fun!

The steering with quattro is fantastic - travelling on a wet and rainy I-95 at speed, a wheel cover from an oncoming car, came over the central median - closing speed at least 140 mph. I swerved to avoid a direct hit the car calmly swung right and then back left to avoid the wheel cover and the car on the inside lane without missing a beat - having owned a BMW 540i previously I can safely say that had I been in that car I would not have stayed on the highway ! Also the handling is exceptional in snow conditions - brilliant, cannot say enough good things about the handling of this car.

I bought this car a week ago and 1 day later the radio buttons went out, a headlight wire was loose and the cupholder needed to be replaced because it stuck. The radio was also replaced. I wonder what is next and am afraid to take it on a long trip for fear something will stop working.
