Audi A4 Reliability

Re: Audi A4 Reliability Post 2007-Current? [smarty666]

I currently own an audi a4 2000, and my father owned an a4 2001, which he was happy to get rid of. We both liked the cars, but frankly, the reliability of audi and vw is scary. The cars will not leave you stranded, but they will empty your checkbook very fast. There is a reason you don't see older audi's on the road. My experience with the audi a4 is: 1) engine seals replaced ... Read More...

Audi A4 Ignition Coil Problems

Good news: Audi recall on ignition coil

First off--thanks to everyone who posted their experiences here. It's been helpful in understanding my situation with 2005 A4 1.8T. In my continued research I discovered that Audi has announced a voluntary recall of some 2001-2007 Audis for ignition coil issues. The great news for many of you is that you may be able to recoup the money you've spent on replacing ... Read More...

Audi A4 Maintenance and Repair

Re: 2001 Audi A4 Timing Belt [sandythek]

Hi sandythek: $1,450 seems a bit on the high side, but I live in the St. Paul, and Twin Cities rates might be somewhat lower. The dealers here normally charge around $1,200, but there is a very good VW/Audi/Mercedes/Volvo/Japanese specialty repair shop in St. Paul that will do it for about $950. I would tend to shy away from the dealers unless they have a stelllar ... Read More...

2001 Audi A4 Timing Belt

When I brought my 2001 Audi A4 to my dealer for a repair (four new ignition coils), they told me that it was time to replace the timing belt, The car has 75K miles on it. I agree with them, but they want $1450 for the job. I certainly want a knowledgeable Audi mechanic to do the job, but that price seems high. Does the price seem reasonable? Can anyone recommend a good Audi ... Read More...

Audi A4 Brakes

Re: Audi A4 1.9TDI brake sticking problem [tyberwan]

Hi, I have a 2001 2.0 A4 and the same problem you have described. I took it to a mechanic who said the calipers and brakes are fine. He seems to think it is the tubes with brake fluid collapsing in on themselves. Once the brake fluid goes through the collapsed pipe under high pressure for braking, it does not come back very well under low pressure meaning the brakes are ... Read More...

2009 Audi A4

markcincinnati & other A4 owners

The lease on my wife's '07 X3 3.0siA isn't up until NEXT July, but the government's cash for clunkers has got me thinking. While our X3 is far from a clunker, my 1990 E30 BMW 325iA (83,000 miles) fits the definition according to the EPA's website (It is less than 25 years old and gets a combined 18 mpg). So as long as I replace my E30 (which I bought as a project car last ... Read More...

Audi A4 3.2 quattro vs. Infiniti G35x vs. Volvo S60R (AWD-geartronic)

Re: Audi A4 3.2 quattro vs. Infinity G35x vs. Volvo S60R (AWD-geartronic) [swapdriver]

I would stick with a Japanese car I wouldn't. Had enough fun with Honda, 2 times (Accord 2001, TL 2006) Read More...

Audi A4 2004 and earlier

getting a professional opinion before buying a 2001 audi

sorry to have to post such a neophyte question, but I don't know where else to look. After lots of searching, I found an excellent deal on a 2001 a4 for relatively low mileage. I'm pretty clueless about cars, and aside from obvious issues during a test drive I'll most likely overlook significant red flags. How does one go about arranging an evaluation by an audi service ... Audi A4 Reliability

Re: not a great experience [cneff]

I too am a former Audi owner (leasee actually) who comes to these forums to see if Audi's reliability has improved. I had a 2001 allroad (true "allroad" owners type it in all lower case letters) with which I had a love-hate relationship. It was a great vehicle, quick, comfortable, great in bad weather and stylish. However, there was not one day in the 49,532 miles ... Read More...

Entry Level Luxury Performance Sedans

Re: Audi still has problems [yjbeach]

My 2009 A4 has a build date of week 27. When it arrives several weeks later, it will be my 28th (or 27th or 29th) Audi. I have NEVER had an electrical problem -- other than a power window motor some time ago. I have never had an engine problem, never a transmission problem (other than the crappy tip-lag issue in the 5 speed auto -- and that was a software issue NOT a defect ... Read More...
