Re: end of year-HELP! [urbanaudi]
Written by: pazo on Dec 31, 2008 10:09:24 AM
Hi Urbanaudi, I noticed carman and other mention Audi Financial Services. When I signed my lease a month ago for my 09 Audi A4, the lease manager told me that all leases go through Volkswagon Financial Services. All finances go through Audi Financial Services. He said they are the same company. So I believed him, and signed my 36mo lease with Volkswagon Financial Services. I got an amazing deal at $2000 ... Read More

I love my 2001 A4 1.8T wagon (Avant) AND I have regularly invested about $2000 a year in maintenance/repairs since about 60K around 3 years old. I put about 20K miles/year on it and enjoy my commutes. You just need to make sure the following have been taken care of or you will pay for it. The former owner should have done this if he/she was a good owner... full-synthetic oil ... Read More

new audi reliability
Written by: bill237 on Dec 9, 2007 10:55:11 PM
consume reports recommended the audi a4 in 2000. The problems with audi are age related. The seals, sensors, and electric parts start to break after 5 or 6 years. If you lease or keep cars for 4 or 5 years, you are fine with audi/vw.

Sorry rascal99 et al. but I am just tired of people taunting Audi as reliable when they aren't. Speak to any used-car dealer and they will tell you that due to serious problems with variety of components (read NOT JUST ONE) all cars made by VW which include VW and Audi have a terrible resale value. To give example, 1.8T engine is just a plain piece of junk and everybody knows ... Read More

Audi Reliability
Written by: bill237 on Nov 29, 2007 3:13:22 PM
Audi and Volkswagen in general are great driving cars but have horrible reliability. I have a 2000 Audi A4 Quattro Automatic that has 68,000 mile on it. During the first 3 years, I only had the following issues: bad keychain remote, noisy climate control, bad antenna connection. Once the warranty ran out, all kinds of things started to go: driver's side airbag ($850), driver's side window ($500), engine seals, drivetrain seals, ... Read More

I would also love to share my frustration with my Audi S4 that I bought several years ago, and recently gave up on. That worthless piece of crap was in the shop every other month, seemed like. Countless engine problems, broken tie rod, ESP problems tire wear problems, audio (speaker) problems, Oil light, Engine light, etc. etc. Who knows if the airbags would have worked? Audi is so poor in reliability ... Read More

A4 Front suspension problems

I just had the L and R Front control arms, L and R control arms and tie rod ends replaced on my 2000 A4. for about $ 300.00 labor and $630 in parts by a non dealer Audi repair shop. Remote Key Replacement

Any idea how to install a replacement key in an 2000 A4 remote ? I'm talking about the metal piece that flips out when you press the button. The local Audi dealership will order the part for me ($95 without the remote, ouch!), but I'm not sure they'll put it into the old remote (which I got from a relative who used to own an Audi) without charging me a technician's ... Don't. I bought a 2002 Audi just off lease and it lasted until 61,000 miles. Audi of American and the Audi dealer don't want to have ANYTHING to do with it with the exception of charging me $9,213.32 for a new transmission that has a technical service bulletin out on it. Their service is, without a doubt, the worst available. It took months to get a spare key made because their ... Read More

Well if you went to an Audi repair specialist they'd tell you that they rarely work on Quattro systems. This is of course anecdotal but if you think about it Audi has been doing this longer than anybody....they really have AWD down. My advice about AWD is don't buy it if you don't need it but if you do it's a great option.

Hi Mr. Shiftright, Can you point to evidence that the quattro system is bulletproof (reliable)? I want to get a better understanding of the reliability of an AWD vs. FWD/RWD. There are more components so I would simplistically think that an AWD system would be less releable but I have read others argue that since there is less torque being pushed to each wheel that reliability should be the same as ...
