You should go after Audi. They sold the warranty to you so they are on the hook no matter what they try to tell you. I have been contacted by several people who want to pursue a claim against the dealership.

16" snows on an A3 + TPMS
Written by: huntzinger on Apr 1, 2009 7:26:10 AM
Just wanted to document this so that others can find it. The Mrs got a left-over 2008 Audi A3 this past summer and in the fall, we went through the routine of putting dedicated snow tires on it. Two interesting items came to light: Car came with its OEM default 17" wheels, but for snows, smaller is better and we had a set of existing 16" Audi rims from our prior ... Read More

You should know that any add-ons not sold by Audi of America are usually terrible deals. Just say no to all the extra fees and costs they try to sell you at the dealer level. If it isn't backed by Audi of America, then it probably isn't worth buying at an Audi dealer. Haven't you read CR that tells you all those add on warranties and programs are a complete and ... I was told about needing new tires every 5k miles so I signed up for, at the insistence of the Audi sales person, their "tires for life" program offered by Millennium Protection Group. I've had the same issues with my 2006, after a few thousand miles and now with 24k it's became insane, I want to drive it thru an Audi dealer's window too! I'm ready to get rid of a perfectly good car because of unbearable road noise, I've been in $10k chevy's that are more quiet. Pre-2008.5 revision? Ah, that might explain another piece that came out at closing. It turns out that there was some sort of giveback in the price that hadn't been mentioned and the issue was that the 2.9% financing that we had been offered wasn't technically eligible to be combined with it. Our salesman apologized for the error, then made good with a $858 refund on the spot. This is the difference ... Read More

Hi jdmjd. Unless your son is notoriously tough on his vehicles, he probably would be better off passing on the excess wear and tear coverage. Audi's WearCare plan is a different story though. The cost of this pre-paid maintenance plan is partially offset by a special residual value boost that Audi provides on leased vehicles that are covered by this plan. If your son knows that he will drive more than ... Read More

thanks, Shipo! Good info! Also looks like a major change for the Haldex in 2008. Will read more at that site. Audi product manager told me the A3 was an __exclusive__ system, then sort of hedged and said the engine in 3.2 came from VW (R32). Now the rest of it comes out. The S4 get 340hp from its V-8, the RS4 gets 420hp. The V-8 barely fit into the A4 after a bunch of modifications to make it shorter. I doubt it would ever fit into the A3. Since the "RS" cars are Audi's stupidly fast cars, 350hp is probably close to the max hp you can get out of the 6 cylnder engine. The 3.2 will have to be a hit before ... Read More

Acorin88, nice to hear the car is performing well for you. I'm still shocked that this funky station wagon/hatch is continuing to fascinate me. That 2.0 and the DSG is such a killer combo. Of course 3 years from now DSG (or close variation) will probably be everywhere. But for now VW/Audi seem to have it dialed in.
