I'm new here so let me first say that I love my Audi A3! So much car in what really is a little package...it's fast, fun to drive, handles awesomely, gets great gas milage (no joke...up to 34 mpg at high highway speeds), it's roomy (I'm 6'-0" and can stertch out), and I can go on and on. I'm curious where that 163 lbs comes from. I agree with you that lighter is better, especially for handling in this car, I have the 2006 A3, 2.0T, so I agree, lighter up front, more balanced, better choice than 3.2 engine. However, you can just "chip" the 2.0T and your instantly faster than the 3.2 even in a straight line, which by the way, the V6 isn't even sold anymore. The ... Read More

Hi jdmjd. Unless your son is notoriously tough on his vehicles, he probably would be better off passing on the excess wear and tear coverage. Audi's WearCare plan is a different story though. The cost of this pre-paid maintenance plan is partially offset by a special residual value boost that Audi provides on leased vehicles that are covered by this plan. If your son knows that he will drive more than ... Read More

Hello cmel. A selling price of below dealer invoice is an excellent deal on a leased 2008 Audi A3 right now. I don't think that you are going to be able to do much better than this. Just make sure that the dealer you are working with uses Audi Financial Services' current buy rate lease money factor of .00286 to calculate your monthly payment and you're all set. Hi pfje. You're only being given a $100 discount on the A3 that you are interested in . I am not personally all that familiar with what the market is like for the A3 right now, but that's not a very good deal. Combine the lack of discount with this car's lousy lease program and it becomes a pretty expensive vehicle to lease. You never mentioned what model year the car ... Read More

Audi's lease program varies by term and mileage allowance. You never mentioned what either of these variables are, so for now I will assume that you are interested in a 36 month ... Read More

At the LA Autoshow early in 2007, Audi reps were in disagreement whether or not a 2.0T with Quattro would be exported to the USA in 2008. Supposedly there are no changes to the A3 for 2008, so --- not yet ! VW doesn't have that in USA either (their 4motion-ers' come with V6's).

After hanging around several Audi forums, the overwhelming conclusion is that the A3 3.2 is just not worth the extra money over the 2.0. If you want more power, the 2.0T can be chipped for 20-30 extra ponies, depending on the octane you are willing to put in the tank. Chip and add a rear anti-sway bar and you are done. Both can be done for FAR less than the cost ... Read More

If S3 comes in 2008, won't it most likely be based on the Golf Mk 6 platform? That would let Audi put in a bigger engine and offer a bigger dose of sport handling and performance. A side note: Most of the "other" A3 forums speak of nothing but re-chipping the engines to get out every last HP. In some cases the results are shredded trans or half axles. But the ... Read More

The S4 get 340hp from its V-8, the RS4 gets 420hp. The V-8 barely fit into the A4 after a bunch of modifications to make it shorter. I doubt it would ever fit into the A3. Since the "RS" cars are Audi's stupidly fast cars, 350hp is probably close to the max hp you can get out of the 6 cylnder engine. The 3.2 will have to be a hit before ... Read More

Of course 3 years from now DSG (or close variation) will probably be everywhere. But for now VW/Audi seem to have it dialed in.
