Thank you so much for the detailed information. This is exactly the kind of Illinois rules we were looking for. We did manage to call AFS last week to find out about the tax credit for our situation. Acura would finance the vehicle as a used car like you said, but we would not be eligible for the tax credit through them. If we finance through anyone else (Chase, credit union, ... Read More

I can answer your questions and also (hopefully) clear up the confusion associated with IL lease tax. AFS, able to refinance your lease, but only as a used car. Once a vehicle is titled, it must be refinanced as a "used" or "certified used" vehicle. There is no way around this. AFS, is chartered as an "indirect lender", meaning they cannot finance your loan directly, like a bank. You would need ... Read More

2009 TSX w/tech end of lease term - Options Questions

Hi there. We have a 2009 Acura TSX tech with less than 9,000 miles on it (commute to Metro station a mile away). It is a 39 month lease term and our termination date is May 14, 2012. The Residual Value is $19,692. We are considering keeping the vehicle because, obviously, it's still like new. It seems like it would be worth more than the $19,692 at the end of the ... Read More

Agree with the '08 TSX...better than the current model with it's more compact size. Would trade my Civic for a low miled one in a heartbeat if wife would let me. TSX does use premium fuel, but am sure 8 octane could be used. First, you should realize how lucky you are to have parents who would buy you such a nice car while you are still in high school. Be thankful for that (especially today) and tell them "Thank you!" and give them a big hug. Then honor them and their generosity by taking very good care of the car and driving it safely. My advice to you (even though you probably don't want to hear it as I wouldn't at your age) is to get something a bit older as you will likely dent the heck out of it by you or someone else. Unless your parents are super rich, you are better saving that money for a nice car when you graduate college. I would suggest going for a 06 or 07 Accord ... Read More

A new Honda will have a 3-year warranty that neither of your other options will have, plus you will know the history of the car since you will have owned it since new. Apparently the problems with the 2009 TSX brake pads are widespread enough that there was a class action lawsuit, which Acura settled. Something about the type of pads used. If you google it you'll find lots of information. But, even after the bad pads on my car were replaced with the so-called good pads, I still had to have them replaced again within 6 months, plus the warped rotors. The dealer ... Read More

Honda dealers tell me they have fixed the brake issue, but then, they are trying to sell cars. ... Read More

HOST: Pleaase add G37 and G25 to list

Current list of vehicles for this thread include: BMW 3 Series, Infiniti G35, Acura TL, Lexus IS 350, Mercedes-Benz C-Class, Cadillac CTS, Lexus IS 250, Audi A4, Acura TSX. The G35 has been replaced with G37 since 2009 model year. Now that G25 is unveiled and, given the fact that both IS350/250, 328/335, and TL/TSX are on the list, both G37 and G25 should also be added. Thanks in advance.

Just bought a 2009 TSX tech package. At financing they offered to "reduce" the 7yr/100K extended warranty from $1850 to $1600. Is the extended warranty really worth it?
