Re: 2004 TSX - 1/4 of oil every 1,000 miles... [blustuart]
Written by: nj2pa2nc on Jul 23, 2010 3:38:20 PM
Did you go to the acurazine website-one of the complaints with 04 tsx is burning oil and also the a/c not working. I think it is the first model year bugs. I own a 06 tsx, bought new 11/06. It still has the original brakes with almost 109K problem free miles. Love it. The acura dealer I go to is excellent. They go out of their way to be helpful.

I can't give you an answer for your problem but I would suggest that you call Acura customer service and tell them of the problem that your having with the dealer. I'm at present having a problem with my dealer and I got them involved in the situation. So far they have been very receptive to my situation. Hey if they at least get the dealer to get on the ball ... Read More

Thanks for the heads up nj2pa2nc. Here's an update. I call another Acura service dept. and he also said it's not secret that theres a problem with the ac unit and when I asked him how much out the door labor, parts etc...he quoted me 2200.00 and also said that Acura might pick up the cost in "good faith". Whatever, good faith they'd fix it for nothing. Anyway, the original service ... Read More

did you look at the acurazine website-it is discussed there. I think there is even a post looking for people that had problems with the a/c. I am lucky, so far. (knock-on-wood). The a/c on my 06 tsx with 108K miles works excellent. Use it a lot here on the coast of North Carolina.

Just another tidbit to add....It was the service advisor who put the bug in my ear that the ac unit is a known problem because of a metal piece that grinds into, I believe, the compressor which evaporates the ac fumes.....Seriously this guy went into detail and with just about EVERY complaint, others state the same thing...metal shavings. Wish I was computer saavy in the way to contact all these Acura ... Read More

I also have a 2004 tsx and mine went out completely. At first it was random now Acura of Peoria tells me I need a new unit. Google 2004 acura tsx ac and you'll find that its beyond a major issue with 04 to 06 models. Now I've learned that for it to be a recall, it as to be a safety issue. However, Acura corporate is aware and in some ... Read More

Have you checked your battery and/or alternator. Mine(same year) acted up when the battery was dying.

2004 Acura TSX Air Conditioning randomly goes out
Written by: dtp55 on Jul 6, 2010 8:09:02 PM
My daughter has a 2004 Acura TSX and recently has had a problem with the A/C going out. Also when this happens the thermometer on the dash goes out. Sometimes I can turn the engine off and restart it and the A/C comes back on but this doesn't work everytime. It's a very random problem and really no way of knowing when it's going to go off or come back on. ... Read More

"As far as Acura refinement/polishness goes, you are probably the 1st person I have heard say this." Really!?!? It's obvious that you've never driven a TSX, and now I'm sure you've never even read a magazine review either. Car & Driver Magazine eloquently summed up the TSX back in 2004. Here's a sample: "Take Acura's new sports sedan, the TSX. It's a car that distances itself from its rivals not by ... Read More

"Have you had a chance to drive "terrific car?" What's about torque steer and FWD? Why 5 speed auto?" Yes, I have. I owned a 2004 TSX 6MT. I have also driven a 2009 TSX 6MT and liked it, though not as much as the old one. FWD is a downside, no doubt about it, but for 90% of drivers buying in this segment, I don't think it matters much (I ... Read More

I agree about the TSX looks. I actually think the 2nd generation TSX was a step down from the 1st generation car (I may be biased, I owned a 2004 TSX for 2 years). The old car was simple and elegant, while the new one is needlessly fussy and overstyled (yes, especially the beak). Here is the 2004 TSX which I still consider a benchmark for the class in interior ergonomics, ... Read More

"If you assume the annual inflation rate between '04 and '08 was 3%, then $26,000 back then is the equivalent of $29,263 today" Yeah, but that's not the way it works with cars, particularly "all new" models introduced during a recession. Take any model of car and track its base price backwards in time. They don't generally rise at the rate of inflation. Example: VW Passat turbo (base engine). List in ... Read More

don't forget
Written by: nippononly on Apr 24, 2008 8:23:01 PM
all the most successful luxury brands make their most car sales from their smallest models, ALL of which are smaller than TSX (325i, IS, C-class, etc). Acura could sell a smaller more nimble model. I think the main problem with the RSX (in Honda's mind) was that it was too cheap to be taken seriously. I was thinking of reintroducing a proper $25-27K model below the TL. As for the TSX ... Resale value: 6-speed manual vs 5-speed automatic
Written by: blueverine on Apr 21, 2008 8:57:38 AM
My earlier cars were 1983 Honda Accord 5-speed manual and 1990 Acura Integra GS 5-speed manual. People have always told me resale values of manual transmission cars are lower because many people don't know how to drive them. I did have some trouble finding a buyer for the Accord in 1990. In Dec 2004, I donated the Integra with 240,000 miles on it. Both were great cars to drive. Now I ... Read More

I totally agree. This whole time I thought that thumbnail pic was of a Saturn model. When I clicked on it, it was the 09 Acura TSX! Who designs Honda's cars nowadays? Are they ex-GM designers? As a previous 2004 Acura TSX owner, I've always thought that the original model (japanese/european version) with the original alloys were the best one.
